LOL - he's doing an interview, talking mildly about Spygate, not too much hostility, but I thought it was pretty funny that he has, prominently over his left shoulder, The Education Of A Coach (Halberstam). It's still Mort and he's a superdouche...maybe this was his ******ed attempt to buy credibility as he sh!ts all over Belichick.

Had the exact same thought.

Yeah, I saw that too and thought the placement was a rather over-the-top obvious attempt to prove he's done his research and is unbiased. Funny thing is some fan of another team will pick that up and use it as 'proof' that Mortenson is a Pat fan and that's why he's saying the NFL is not going to penalize the Pats any further.

Why for all the ESPN has done and said the last year or so, you still watch that crap.

Not really, the whole point of ESPN these days is to infuriate people in New England into watching all their shows, and to agree with the opinion - ( wrong opinion) of most of the country, and discredit the pats.

All this leads to is higher ratings, and more money for ESPN. Don't watch.

They(ESPN) must have gotten the memo from management. Ryan. Lupica on Sports
Reporters wanting Specter to investigate. Rest of the country, saying time to move on.
ESPN just won't let it go. Time for Pats fans to move on too. NFL Network for TV.
Fox Radio if you want all-sports radio.

this is nothing new, i 've hated espn for 25 yrs. or more for their passive aggressive subliminal bashing of all sports boston. but i do like to monitor them because there are definitely battle lines being drawn and the better i know them the better i can defend against them.

kinda like how "The Professor" John Clayton sits in front of a backdrop that contains several leather-bound books.

Meanwhile hypocrite Dungy pleads Marvin Harrison's case, and no one on ESPN gets on him for that.

Hey, kids, you know you shouldn't cheat or steal signals like Bill Belichick. but shooting people is OK!!

Yup...they keep laughing at us, laughing all the way to the bank.

We keep screaming at ESPN, Herald, Globe all the aholes and they just keep seeing ratings and site hits go through the roof.

I am guilty myself, just for writing this response.

The ONLY way we can get their attention is to simply stop talking about it, stop responding, stop reading their crap, watching their lies (meant only to infuriate us) and stop going to their websites.

Just about time to make that statement loud and clear and get back to football.

How do we send this message to them??

The sad and amazing results. They reap what they sow and this is indeed a subliminal message they are conveying.

Other than completely ignore (no newspaper or magazine subscriptions and no web site visits) the story, the only thing I can think of is to take a casual "yep, we did it, sorry, yep, you're right" attitude. Part of the reason this story has such legs is because it has created debate. When Pats fans go on the offensive (others do it, Bronco and 49er salary cap, little or no advantage, etc.) all that is doing is inciting a fan of any other team to prove you are wrong. Guess what, 31-1 are not good odds!

I remember a manger of mine many years ago telling me that it is impossible to win an argument with a customer. The rationale was that regardless if you win or lose the argument, you have upset the customer, which means they are no longer going to be your customer. By not arguing and simply agreeing with them they are unable to get mad at you. Same philosophy, as difficult as it is to employ, makes sense with writers and other fans. Yep your right, Patriots were wrong, they got punished. Rather than disagreeing that the team should be disbanded or whatever the person is trying to say, just agree. "Well, that's an interesting idea, I'll have to think about that, maybe you're right."

Look at it this way. Your customer places an order with you. Needs to be there overnight. Didn't happen. Are you better off talking about all the other orders that did get delivered, that your competitors also sometimes miss shipments, that they should have placed the order earlier in the day, that it was UPS's fault for not picking up the package? No, best thing you can do is own up to it, apologize, promise to do a better job, thank them for their business and change the subject.

Same line of reasoning goes with this debate. It's very obvious that rationalizing and defending the actions of BB are not going to sway other fans. The mediots are hoping we will do just that because that entices fans elsewhere to respond, which increases ratings and profits. If those fans of the 31 other teams have nobody to argue with then at some point the debate becomes boring - and the topic changes.
