Guess Peyton will have a hard time matching this one, but last night at the "Best Buddies" kick off dinner, gave each of his O lineman a Audi Q7 SUV.. nice token from a classy guy..

Tom Brady arrived at last night's kickoff for the Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hyannis Port in typically dramatic fashion. The Pats QB pulled up in a black Audi R8, driving the sports car into a tent set up adjacent to the JFK Library. (U2's "Vertigo" was playing on the PA.) "I think I just passed a state trooper," joked Brady, the honorary chairman of the cycling fund-raiser founded by Anthony Shriver for people with intellectual disabilities. Unaccompanied by his supermodel sweetheart Gisele Bundchen, Brady then surprised his five linemen, giving each of them an Audi Q7 SUV. (Only Dan Koppen, Stephen Neal, and Logan Mankins were present to accept their sweet rides, which retail for $42,500.) Said Brady: "These will keep you well-protected, just like you make me feel - sometimes."

But MeMe Manning should look on the bright side. Tom Brady is raising money to help Peyton with his disabiliity.
Tom Brady is the best and it's why players around the league respect the guy so much.

Hopefully this should shut up the haters who claim our o-line sucks and cost us a football game.

On a side note...Dan Marino use to buy his O Line isotoner gloves. Come to think of it, he probably didn't even have to pay for them because he was always sponsored by them so i'm sure he received them for free.

Great gesture by Brady. But at an AUDI sponsored event, I doubt very seriously Brady had to spend a penny on those SUVs. They were probably donated by Audi. But good job by Brady. Im sure his influence is what got his boys those rides. Not his wallet.

Audi actually is "lending" the cars to the linemen...they were not purchased by Brady and the guys do not keep them.

My God - he boutght them 42,000 cars? I mean even if they are used cars that only cost $10,000,000 each, that's $420 million.

I mean its nice and all but can Brady really afford that? And what the hell do they need 42,000 cars for? Can they even find time to drive them? Are they going to loan them out? Start their own car rental fleet?

And talk about carbon footprint! They'd be putting more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than Al Gore flying off in a private jet to accept a Nobel Peace prize.

I donno - I think Brady's heart is in the right place but I think this is dumb on a whole number of different levels.

If this were BB, the media would put some negative twist on it. With Steve Young and Schlereth saying, "We only drive Hybrids because unlike BB we believe in protecting the integrity of the environment."

On a side note, for those of you considering this car, my close friend who is a gadget freak has it and loves it. It is the most intuitively compatible vehicle for IPhone users. I just avoid IPhones and Audis so I do not fully appreciate this feature.

Two things:

1) it's still a nice gift. Brady was probably offered an "in kind" benefit in exchange for his commitment. Figure the lease on the vehicle is around $500 a month (+/-), that's a $30,000 benefit that Brady gave away. So, it's very nice, especially if he picks up the taxes and insurance. Even nicer nowadays if he buys the gas for the year.

2) gives us a little insight into what goes on behind the scenes when celebrities endorse even charitable events. they're seldom doing it solely out of the goodness of their hearts, as good as those hearts may be.

i've read enough of your posts to know that you're a smart, thoughtful person and are capable of holding two contradictory thoughts in your mind at the same time. While I think this is a very nice thing that TB has done (pls see my other post in this thread), I also think that the o-line helped "cost us a football game."

Some quarterbacks will take their offensive linemen out for a steak dinner at the end of the season to thank them for their protection. Others might gift their offensive line with Rolex watches. That is, if they're lucky. As Dan Koppen, Logan Mankins and Stephen Neal found out last night, he tends to operate on a much grander scale than most quarterbacks. Dinner? Fancy watch? Brady presented the three offensive linemen who came to his event with an Audi Q7 SUV to kick off the Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hyannis Port.
