I don't know what others are thinking out there but IMO Perkins has been exposed this playoffs. I always thought of him to be a reserve Rick Roby type but I know there are others who like him.

He's a good kid ... he works real hard and has great heart. He's just a fraction of a second to slow when he has the ball. IMO the biggest reason we are suffering ... (great win tonight BTW) is that we have no defensive/rebounding presence in the middle other than Garnett who is too old to play most of the game.

Look for Ainge to find a defensive center who will be backed up by "Big Baby" next year.

I was thinking the same exact thing. He never seems to hit free throws, makes sloppy passes all the time, can't score and is a foul liability on defense. Bench him.

He is what he is, a solid backup center, a marginal starter at best. But hey, he's still young, and he's cheap.

That said I don't think I can stand to see him dribble the basketball under the net again and give guys time to either time his jump and block his shot, or swat the ball out of his hands when he's holding it down low instead of throwing an upfake and slamming it home or getting fouled.

i agree with everything said here. He is still young but damn he is hard to watch out there. He would be a great reserve but we will need to address the center position next year.

I’m glad someone else noticed this. It has been really bothering me all season. Perkins may have the slowest feet I have ever seen on an NBA player. EVER. He moves like he is walking in wet sand. I can't count the number of times this season he has gotten a great pass under the hoop with two steps between him and the defender, only to have the shot blocked or impeded before he can even get his feet off the ground. It is painful to watch.

The way I see it ... I like what I've seen from Big Baby and also realize he's really a player without a position ... more of a PF without the length. So, really he's a great asset as the backup PF/Center like McHale when he was young. McHale would come in off the bench at PF then he would slide to center then go back to the bench ... that's what I see for Davis for at least the next few years.

Rondo is blossoming into an offensive force to go along with his other tools .. so really we just need a big body at center ... hopefully we can find one next year and trade Perk.

I don't really think Perkins is the issue, although Doc should have been playing the Large Infant all along. The issue is up and down play at point guard. Rondo has great upside and when he's on he is a joy to watch. However, his inconsistency effects the offense, leading to indecisive possessions under playoff caliber defensive pressure on the road.

That problem will get better with experience, but the Celts unfortunately do not have time to wait.

If Billups is less than 100%, the Celts can beat Detroit, and beat them soundly. If Billups is healthy, Detroit will win that series based on superior PG play down the stretch of games.

i think Rondo (and PP for that matter) are better when they drive to the basket. They either get the bucket or they pass to an open player under the basket. I say keep driving to the hole...no way the Cavs can stop Rondo driving.

WTF do you guys expect, everyone to be an all-star?

Sure, Perk is nothing spectacular, but he shows up and plays ball out 100% of the time. He isn't athletic, but he is a big body who allows KG to play PF and matchup against a smaller player, where his body can truly hold up. I feel like Perk sucks at offense, but he is essential for the success of the D.

GO CELTS

I expect him to get less playing time than some of the better players on the team. That isn't happening and he's hurting us big time.

I would rather see PJ Brown in there over Perk, and PJ is 75 years old.

Perkins should be a rookie this year. He was terrific against the Hawks. He's struggling in this series because the guy he's facing is 7'3. Why do you think the Celtics can't get to the hoop? Watch Rondo, he's totally bothered by Big Z. Perkins is fine. At 23 years old, he's only going to get better. He'll never be a dominant center, but how many teams have a dominant center? Very few. Perk doesn't have to do much on this team, since the big 3 do all teh scoring. He rebounds, blocks shots, and scores on scrap plays.

He's too slow. That's the main issue. It's like he is moving in slow motion, and he doesn't do any other one thing well enough to make up for his extremely slow play. He is literally the slowest guy on the court in every single game he plays. Opponents can afford to give him 3 steps under the hoop and not have to worry about closing the gap if he gets fed the ball. It’s the same thing on the defensive side of the court. His lack of speed turns him into a foul magnet. Granted, since KG has been there he has gotten slightly better defensively (everyone has), but the fouls will always follow him because more times than not, the man he is guarding is going to get off the ground quicker and force Perk into fouling instead of defending cleanly.

I’m sorry, but the kid just isn’t very good. He is a back up (AT BEST) in the NBA.

That's why we're at game 7 again. Between the lack of a center and poor shooting guard play we have struggled. Now, I know it's hard but if I were Doc I would put Pierce as the SG and put Posey as the SF. makes the team bigger, which is killing us and it also gives us outside shooting while maintaining rebounding.
