Just wait and see. As soon as the sh!tstorm subsides, poor tubby Tomase will be lauded for his courage in sticking with his job despite the naysayers and will curry a ton of sympathy, because "he's really a fine reporter and just made a mistake." (The WEEI idiots led by Pete Sheppard started this process yesterday afternoon.)

It's simply a matter of time before fatboy writes another anti-Patriots piece to PROVE that he can be "objective" in covering the team and hasn't suddenly turned into a Pats PR agent because of his unfathomable transgression.

I'm already starting to become ill.

Stop listening to EEI in the afternoon.

I can stand only Dale and Holley. The rest is mostly ignorant bombast with an occasional intelligent comment by Ordway and now Merloni. Unfortunately they have not yet invented filters to block the other blockheads.

Holley makes the show. I wish I can hear him more.

Only time I hear the big show is when BB, Smerlas and Deossie are on at the same time, I enjoy the way the three talk about footbal in general.

It all comes down to 1 basic fact IMO ... if 1 veteran decides Tomase is to be shunned he will be shunned by the entire team. Now, what are the odds that even 1 veteran will feel that way ... :D

Ugh exactly...
The only thing he's a victim of is himself. He's the one who put it out there, what else did he expect? Poor John my ***....he's getting exactly what he should have been smart enough to expect was coming to him. Some people don't care HOW their name gets lit up, as long as it's lit up.
Nobody owes him anything.

After listening to Curran it's clear that a number of

sports media people in this town take themselves way too seriously. They don't understand that it is the success of the Patriots that drives fans attention not any real skills they have. Tomassee and his boss should have been fired or at the very least suspended without pay for the complete failure to do their job. Any attempt to defend them only adds to the hypocrisy.

The media and those who work in the media have come to believe they are very powerful and have great influence. This belief has caused them to minimize the opinions of the fans.

Well, 2 can play at that game. I think we at Patsfans.com have a very powerful voice as well. We don't have to accept any story or campaign by WEEI that tries to portray Tomasse as courageous.

I believe we have affected the Boston sports media in a powerful way. And they're pissed off right now. Let's make sure we stick together and make sure our voice continues to be heard.

Tomasse will NOT be portrayed as courageous...over my dead body!

Tomase does not deserve physical abuse, ie. people throwing crap at him or spitting on him or anything dumb like that. But every snide comment, sarcastic quip, vulgar blog posting, and shunning by people are his pennance for the sin he commited.

You made your bed, Tomase. Now drown your sorrows in twinkies and shots of turkey gravy, you fat F.

After his so called apology..I think even less of him and the Herald...that rag has NO integrity..as far as Tomase as victim..it should NOT happen...

Here is where the defense of the tremendous young journalist his pals are trying to save for us comes apart. Felger stated repeatedly yesterday that the Herald is not to be confused with some bastion of journalism. They don't spend a lot of time fact checking and vetting sources. They are a sensational tabloid fighting for their life who push their employees to take risks and embrace controversy because they need to do that just to survive in today's newspaper market. Fine. Then don't try to sell me on how any self respecting journalist would continue to work for them - including the pompus ass that is Tony Masserotti, or Steve Buckley, or Karen Guregian or anyone else who attempts to throw the **** that is being heaped on them by association back on...US, the yahoo fanbase. You sleep with dogs you'll end up with fleas. Again, life is all about choices. And when John arrived at the Herald his resume was already dotted with controversy. So don't try to sell me on how they took advantage of some poor, fat sweet boy who just wanted to be a top notch journalist. They hired an overweight weasel pre-programmed to resented the athletes he covered and willing to do whatever he had to elevate his lard assed profile to a point where he could attack them and their teams on a whim to advance his own career.

His former employer Bill Burt was on WEEI on Thursday babbling about how John was just the nicest kid you could ever meet and he wouldn't intentionally harm a fly. You know, that's what co-workers used to say about Ted Bundy - and he ended up serial killer. The only thing Tomase is a victim of is his own baseline, cut throat ego.

Howie Carr (radio talk show host and opinion/entertainment columnist for the Herald) covered this for an hour on Friday. I usually don't listen but he criticized Tomasse mercilessly for not having ANY real sources and for simply printing what Howie termed "hearsay". Really lit into what he said was totally iresponsible 'reporting', yet saying that papers do want big headlines to make you buy the paper off the stands.

Howie did go in the tank for the Herald sports editors refusing to name or blame them and refusing to say that T would be fired. Felt that the Herald would stand by the guy and that T would cover the Pats this season and then quietly be moved elsewhere.
