Replayed part of brady's interviewed and says if the giants were accused of cheating and if tom coughlin had a history of this then would pats fans and brady have let this go?

Same old crap from every media member.i though dan patrick was a little balanced. I still dont know why dont they answer how brady threw for 50 tds and won an mvp without benefitting from taped signals ?

BB has a "history" of cheating???

Well, Patrick's argument is an excellent one.

This is sports. We're under no real obligation to a moral or ethical truth. Most of us are fanatics. We side with the home team. Why? Because it's sports.

In answer to Patrick's question: if the shoe were on the other foot, we'd be blasting the Patriots too, without a care for context or logic.

That's exactly the problem here. People are making their points based on their hatred of the Patriots. Because they are fans. I understand that. It makes sense. They want to take the big dog down. If there were real world repercussions to this, then I'd say that it's wrong for other fans to do this. But there aren't. It only hurts the Patriots. And anything that hurts the Patriots helps the Colts, Jets, Bills, Phins, etc. That's how it is.

Patrick is actually arguing against himself. He's basically underlining the fact that fans are dismissing logical arguments and simply piling on like hyenas, which is exactly what Brady was saying about ESPN.

What does Danica Patrick think of Brady? ;)

I can only speak for myself, but I think Patriots fans would have had their fun and taken their shots if another team was in a similar situation. I have no issue with Patrick making this point.

The issue I have is that media members acted (and continue to act) like fans in this situation. Patrick would have created a better discussion if he addressed that.

If this happened to ANY other team the media attention would be minimal by comparison therefore the public outcry would be equally as small.

Were the blasts of the Broncos cheating the salary cap at the same level as the blasts of the Pats? How about when the 49ers also cheated the cap?

How about the blasts for the 49ers for tampering?

Are those two forms of cheating OK, and stealing signals with a banned method are not?

Both of the first 2 get you players you otherwise would not have. What the Pats did gets you video of signals rather than still pictures or hand written notes like other teams all have.

The point he's making actually supports Brady's position. People are reacting to Spygate out of their loyalties, not out of any logical or reasoned arguments.

If I were a fan of another team, I never would have investigated all the nuances of spygate. I wouldn't have cared.

Um, Dan...

The shoe was on the other foot...at Miami in 2006. You know what my reaction was? Not outrage against Miami, but rather disgust that the Pats didn't change up their audibles.

Stealing signals has been part of the game for years, whether done with video tape, audio tape, scouts with binoculars or whatever. Teams have to be ready for it.

Chris

Bottom line is Tom needs to shutty! No one wants to hear from him on Spygate and based on his WEEI interview yesterday he is getting pretty beat up today and I think deservedly so!

If the tables were reversed and this was Peyton Manning, QB of the Spygate Colts on some Indy Radio station, ALL of us of us would be questioning his Superbowl win, his stats and his overall legacy. Tom Brady is part of this mess like it or not and because of it, his legacy has been tarnished. The Pats and BB made him a superstar and with one decision back in September of 2007 by his coach, he single-handly destroyed the stellar reputation of one of the NFL's biggest stars.

Surely I know Tom is a great QB and logically he did get no benefit from Spygate, but the average fan - non Pat fan, choses to ignore facts. They call it Cheating and Tom is now labeled a Cheater - the lead Cheater along with his coach. That is now their great legacy. I heard people talking on The Fan today saying that they continued to cheat even last year (2007)and that is why Brady had the year he had. Basically, you cannot win on Spygate. Brady has got to know that and keep silent. Why stir the pot? There was a time Brady was better and smarter than that, but those days are gone. Could be his ego, or it could be his bitterness over the whole thing, but there was a time he was better than this and stooping this level. The only thing that cures this is silence, letting go and winning. Tom knows it and I am shocked by his comments on Spygate yesterday. I loved his comments on the team in general and overall loss in the SB and taking the blame and I also loved his praise of the Giants, but the comments about ESPN, the Jets and so forth were so unBrady like and stupid! Surely the Jets will use his no respect comments during our 2 games this season. Stupid Tom, just stupid!

I have to admit this to myself, although in denial for a while, I am now convinced that Tom is not the same guy he once was. Bound to happen with his stardom and the lifestyle he leads. I am sure his teammates and family see a difference in this once humble, quiet, hardworking, respectable guy. Just listening to him prior to the SB with the comments on Burress saying the Pats were only going to score 17pts, then skipping the workouts and now listening to him yesterday it seems he is jaded and has lost the shine so to speak. Sad reality, but it's who he is now. A rock star athlete with an arrogance and above it all persona. I can understand why alot, and I mean ALOT of people hate him. I would too if I was a fan of another team. He used to say the right things, do the right things, but suddenly he keeps opening up his mouth and this arrogant crap spouts out. Makes me a little sick!

I am starting to think we lost Tom Brady along the way. He is not the same guy he once was. Bound to happen with his stardom and the lifestyle he leads. Bridget is not the only one who lost 'that' guy - we all did. I am sure his teammates and family see a different in this guy. Just listening to him prior to the SB with the comments on Burress saying the Pats were only going to score 17pts, then skipping the workouts and now listening to him yesterday it seems he is jaded and has lost the shine so to speak. Wow. So now no one from the Patriots can defend themselves and speak their minds? WTF?

I heard what he said this morning and all i could think was how foolish he was.

1-As a Pats fan, i would not care if another teams cheats because we had 18-0 record last season.
2-BB did not care if another team cheats either. He was willing to let another team get away from it because he did not mention any team in the past months.

I'd love it if you found yourself a new team to root for.

So he criticized ESPN for turning this subject into a media circus and all of a sudden he's a jerk? The fact you used his response to Plaxico's allegation that they would only score 17 points as a sign of arrogance is just unbelievable. Can't a guy just joke around? I mean, this whole post was just the overreaction of the year so far.

And please, let's stop pretending we care about Tom Brady's moral integrity. He's our QB, he wins us SuperBowls, he leads our team. That's all that matters. He wins, that's why other people hate him. Some people here hate Peyton Manning who, by all acounts, is a great guy. Why? Because he is successful while wearing a different uniform.

I don't suppose you've heard of Jamie Whited.

I sure am familiar with the "moonning incident" :D

But what I'm trying to say is no one can honestly tell me they dislike Peyton Manning for that. I mean, Joe Montana was hated, Bart Starr was hated, Dan Marino (who is said to be a jerk) was hated. But not because of their off the field behaviour.

I would call this response a bit overboard.

I did not hear the entire interview with Brady, but I did hear the beginning that basically talked about cameragate and the SB. And as far as I am concerened, Brady handled the questions and topics as he has always done. With absolute class and dignity.

As far as the SB goes, he blamed himself and his team while giving alot of credit to the Giants. How many times have we heard other players, coaches and frot office personal blame the defeats on other circumstances. Just look at the Colts. Manning likes to point the finger at other people (o-line) or inuries. Their front office always blames something other then their team just being beat (weather, officiating, poor scheduling, etc). I have never heard Brady or any other Pats player or coach blame anyone other then themselves for a Patriot loss. Even when they had the right to do so.

As for cameragate, Brady, and any other Patriots has every right to say what he wants about it. Whether its a no win situation or not. They put in the time, the blood, sweat and tears, the mini-camps, the injuries, the criticism (non cameragate) to make this team what it has become. A team at the highest level of not only their professional sport, but in all professional sporting leagues. In terms of the accolades this team has won and had bestowed upon them, they have earned every single one of them. And for the national media to basically tear them apart and basically lie and/or distort the truth to sell papers and ratings is shameful. But it is their right to their beliefs to do so, right or wrong. But I for one, am glad and proud to see the Brady has decided to stick up for the Patriots and tell us how he feels about the current situation. Again. he has earned the right to do so.

Tom Brady
Day 1 as a NE Patriot:
to paraphrase:
"Mr. Kraft, drafting me was the best decision this team ever made!"

Seems he has maintained that humble quality you find so endearing

Is everyone going to quote Drewwho's entire post before making there own comments? Just wondering...
