Bryan Burwell

No, we’re not quite done yet. I know a lot of people want it to be over, this untidy little scandal called Spygate, but it’s not over, nor should it be. We still have plenty of questions left unanswered. But that didn’t stop Roger Goodell from trying. With the simple gesture of a furrowed brow and the sly evoking of a parental prerogative, the glib and telegenic NFL commissioner couldn’t make the unsettling mess of Spygate go away with a few simple words.

...

If Spygate has come to an end, it’s not because the story no longer has legs. It’s only because Goodell wants it to go away. But we have tapes that conclusively tell a story that the team broke the rules. We have a coach and an organization that has repeatedly lied before, and now they deserve our suspicions that they probably are lying again when they say they didn’t understand rules so clear-cut and simply worded that only a blind man or a fool would misinterpret them.

So let’s begin with the first lie and see how it keeps us in a distrustful mood. We’re supposed to believe that the genius, Belichick, can read the most elaborate offenses and defenses in football history, but can’t read simple English in the NFL rulebook?

He's playing to his audience in St Louis. Most of those are still sitting around waiting for Martz to send Faulk in.

Who cares what Bryan Burwell thinks? Why do some posters here feel the need to highlight what mediots from out of town have to say? Seriously who cares about Bryan Burwell??

Did not see this one comin espically after the total acces apperence yesterday, anothe mediot...

I just love when writers say something so ridiculously stupid, they don't even see how foolish they are making themselves appear before a national audience.

Here is why this man is a fool of the first order;

He says "although some people would like it to go away..."
Oh really Burwell?
Well how about the incredible fact that some people DON'T want this to go away....LIKE YOU!!

Why would anyone NOT want this to go away. The Patriots were caught & punished and that "should" be the end of this story. Why is Burwell STILL writing about it?

Because he does NOT want it to go away!

I've said it before and I'll repeat it here. If a Rams fan wants to be angry, be pi**ed with Mike Martz who stubbornly stayed with the passing game and ignored the run (8 touches by Faulk in the second half of SB 36) after the Pats set up defenses designed to stop the pass and could have been torched by the run. Had he made the obvious adjustments, there would be one more Lombardi in St. Louis and one less in Foxboro......

Does anyone wonder why, when the media argues that the RULE was clear as day, the refuse to actually publish the rule?

Just like King, this guy talks about the rule, and then instead he quotes the memo.

Peter King and Burwell are being intellectually dishonest.

I have no doubt that Belichick broke the rule in the memo. I do believe however that the rule should have been interpreted to allow taping not for in use play.

That being said, the memo came out in 2006. What does Burwell have to gain by eliding the fact that the memo reads nothing like the actual rule in the handbook. He presents the memo and then goes back to 2000 to describe the flagrant violation of the rule.

These media people essentially believe that their readers are stupid hayseeds.

They didn't get the story they thought they were gonna get. Now it's time to try to spin more out of nothing. Cameragate generates big ratings and ultimately more money. It's over and mediots can't let it go. Who cares what they say??? Bryan Burwell? WTF does he know about anything? Let them keep embarrassing themselves making up more nonsense.

I didn't know who Bryan Burwell was until today. I could have lived the reat of my life content not knowing who Byran Burwell was.:D
