Poor Lugo ... going to hear his name 1/2 million times this year.

Is it a crime to make 9 Million a year and suck if someone offered you the $$$?

Theo has made a lot of great moves and hes done a great job with the farm system but he really f-cked up the short stop situation . out of all the ss hes had since 04 lugo is the worst. i don't know why he was wanted the guy so bad in the first place.

The worst of it is we had a future Hall of Fame shortstop in Hanley just wasting away in the minors, and he began his HOF career for the Marlins.

I think Lowrie and Cora should finish out the season for Mr. Error

:rolleyes:how do you figure that? the sox got a ws mvp mike lowel and arguably the best pitcher in the game josh Beckett for hanley. Anabal Sanchez who was part of that trade is back in the minors. that was a great trade. they won a ws because of that trade. theo f-ked up the ss position but it wasn't because of that trade.

Lugo is potential one of the worst signings ever for the red sox right behind Renteria

I heard that Cabrera was a real a-hole in the clubhouse ... that was the reason they anted him gone. Too bad because while not the greatest oplayer he was a dirt dog and he did help the team.

the guy hits close to 300 every year. he had a excellent offensive season last year.

Reportedly, Cabrera was let go because he spent too much time with underage girls while in Boston. Whether or not thats true who knows, but its the most frequent rumor I've heard to explain his departure. Regardless, they got Ellsbury and Lowrie with the draft picks from Cabrera, so I think letting him go was the right move. Plus, he's a terribly overrated offensive player, posting a career .719OPS. A whole lot better than Lugo, but still nothing to really be upset about letting go.

The major SS mistake was trading Renteria away. Hes been an great offensive player since leaving Boston, and isn't nearly as bad defensively as he was in 2005. He had a lingering back injury all of his time in Boston, and his game suffered because of it. Dumb trade.

Hanley is what got the Sox Beckett. You do that trade again tomorrow. As sensational as Ramirez is, an ace like Beckett is more valuable. It's a trade that worked for both teams. That's how it should be.

Theo didn't trade Ramirez for Beckett. He left the team in a gorilla suit when that trade happened.

I've heard similar Foley. Who knows what's true. I think we can safely say his not returning wasn't performance related.

They never should have signed Renteria to begin with. Reminds me of the Yankees signing Kenny Rogers a long time ago. Everyone said the guy can't play in that environment, and not to sign him, and the results spoke for themselves. Some people can't play in these types of markets.

The writing with Lugo was on the wall when no one else wanted him to play SS. Theo & Cashman are birds of a feather. They do some things really well, and some others truly make you scratch your head. It's a good thing each has a bottomless pit of cash.

Theo needs a Pioli ... I wonder if he has someone? I'm thinking he doesn't because while 1 person could be enamored with a Lugo no way 2 people could be. In any case, Theo was in love with the pumped up, pre drug policy Lugo ... I think he was juicing for a year or so.

And all people can't play well when they have a season long back injury. Unless you take Tony LaRussa's word as gospel, there is no reason to think that a healthy Renteria wouldn't have performed well in Boston.

We'll agree to disagree. Some players simply can't handle certain markets. Maybe if they kept him longer, he'd have adjusted accordingly. We'll never know I guess.

Lugo sucks. I can't wait for Lowrie to mature. Lugo's just a lesser version of Cabrera who beats his wife. Scumbag.

Ouch ... but with Lugo gone, who would be pick on? JD Drew again?

Lugo makes me want to file my teeth down to the freakin' gums and chew on ice. Seething hatred. :enranged:

Ok maybe I don't feel seething hatred, but must he suck so much?
