I just woke up and came here looking to see a thread like "all charges dismissed" or "further punishment ", but rather there are many densely packed threads full of highlights of the day. Those are great, but it has left me wondering if the issue is more or less over now or what?

Anyone?

It's over for all but the media hacks. Goodell has put it to bed (whether some here will claim he was nonspecific enough for them) quite deliberately, no new punishment, nothing more to see here folks, no significant competitive advantage was gained, etc. There is no life left in the beast, and ESPN and even NFLN are left pummeling poor Eight Belles like there was no tomorrow. Breathe easy Patjew, aside from some media pummeling (f*ck them anyway) Goodell made this no longer an issue, period. Now the best the mediots can come up with is far fetched (and I mean really far fetched) conspiracy theories and hopes that the "not breaking of rules" will somehow translate into punishment.

In reality (commissioner's office), it's over. In fantasy (television, the offices of insane senators), it's still going. So you can choose to live in reality or in fantasy to indulge whatever you wish to believe. Today's commentary proved once again that truth is secondary to bias.

Basically over except for a few ticky tack things and bad losers who hoped for more.

Oh PJ...if only any of us could answer that...

It SHOULD be over, from what we've seen all day. I don't know what other possible angle people on ESPN and Prisco or King could take. That being said, some of this residual sh!t (Pats vs. Herald, Walsh seeing Faulk in a kick return formation and mentioning it to Dabol or whatever his name is, the Senator Comcast crap tomorrow) will linger for a few weeks. Oh, and I can guarantee Tom Jackson will bring it up every week on NFL Countdown.

But besides all that, to most of rational America, I would say the case is closed.

Its over except for Espn, the ny times, daily news, post, Peter King.. Do I need to go on, its time for a all out attack against the media..

Was it over when the Germans attacked Pearl Harbor?

Nah, even the NY Daily News hasn't had much to say. They're all about D'Antoni taking the Knicks job. Between that and the upcoming Mets/Yankees series, they have their mind on other things.

Even on Sunday, the only snide comment Lupica had was that Goodell has bungled this thing left and right. And let's face it, none of us like Lupica, but that is about as valid a point ever written.

Thanks everyone. I think that's the best I had hoped for. No suspensions, etc. It's easy to tune out ESPN from here!

Has Specter said anything today?

I'm as mystified as you are, PJ.

I mean this guy Walsh came across as if he would be targeted by hitmen if he dared to say what he knew, asked for and was given legal immunity, and then revealed (or alleged) that he had been present during a Rams practice and had passed on some information about their formation to a coach. I mean when it comes to crimes and misdemeanours that's up there with the Watergate burglary, isn't it?

Look, if you guys had done as good a job of subjugating the Irish as you should have way back when, Walsh's ancestors wouldn't have made it over here and we could have avoided the whole thing ... $%&@ Brits can't even extend an empire to their own backyard.

Well, I have to say that at the time my forefathers were probably getting their talluses muddy in some godforsaken bit of the Ukraine next to PJ's, so I'd have to say no to the 'you guys' -- but your general point is right on. There has to be something wrong with a fella who earns his living as a golf pro in Hawaii and still feels that the world is treating him badly.

Patjew, you missed Spector's press conference but so did all of us.

That depends-wearing, senile, turd faced, mangled necked, calcium deposited, long-hairs-coming-out-of-his-nose, sack of garbage decided to postpone it b/c now he has to think of something new to whine about.

B/c he's an old pile of turds and doesn't have a clue as to what day it is.

Poo dollars are worth more than that wrinkled-faced, prune juice drinking, price-is-right-watching jagoff.

good morning over there in the China. You should tell them Yao Ming is overrated.

Spectar needs a day to think about how he will turn this around...

On the subject of its over, I want it to be, but the more I hear tv and the drive by media, its not going to be over..

You just realized this? Thank God there's Fox News at least.

It's over... except for the few clueless buzzards in the media who actually think they can get a morsel or two from from the dessicated skeletal remains of a story that hit the wall --- hard. Walsh surprised me with his admission that the tape stayed with him the entire game and reaffirmed my faith in Belichick. It's been a very good day on the Pats front, better than I had hoped.
