I didn't even know there were league rules against this but according to Goodell the Patriots had violated league policy regarding this - Which is not a worthy violation to cause any fine or punishment.

Just for the heck of it,I wonder if they will name the player on IR who was practicing?

I will guess it was Ty Law but we may never know who they witnessed on film.

I bet it was the 4th QB, Kingsbury, that was a phatom IRing anyways, other than that, it would make no sense to have a player on IR practice, since he is not allowed to play again that year.

Yeah I wondered exactly why a player who was not going to play again that season to continue to practice unless the guy just wanted to try and stay in football shape while the team was still playing.

It wasn't Law. Walsh was off the team the year Law went to IR. Same with Kingsbury (but I think you are on the right track).

I am guess it was a rookie. The Patriots have been believed in the past to have IRed rookies to keep them on the roster basically redshirting them. A lot of teams are believed to have done this. It is sort of like tampering where it is a very poorly kept secret to manipulate the roster and is rampart in the NFL.

Who was on IR in 01.....RB Walter Williams...WR Curtis Jackson...TE Jabari Holloway...OT Adrian Klemm... DL Jace Sayler...LB Andy Katzenmoyer...LB Marty Moore...LB Kole Ayi...DB Ray Hill...CB Brock Williams...DB Ben Kelly...S Hakim Akbar.... Hmmmm chances are GREAT it was a rookie...Curious as to who it was?? Not really that big..but interesting..

I think we can all safely assume that Klemm was not the one practicing

What I don't understand is this concept of retroactive punishment going back six years.

Godell said it would be investigated, but no punishment. However, there could be punishment for ticket scalping.

I wanna know who the scalpers are. LOL How pathetic is that? Walsh was the team scalper.....what a guy!

Yeah, but not many of those players from that 2001 team are still here.
Brady
Light
Faulk
Seymour
Bruschi
Vrabel
Paxton
Izzo
I think those are the only guys left from that 2001 team.

i initially thought it was Ted Johnson, but i guess it was 2001 that Walsh was referring to. In any event, doesn't this make BB look bad? now ted johnson has some credibility about his story. :bricks:

Actually, Goodell said that a player who is on the IR who is practicing with the team is a situation that is normally handled internally by nothing more than a fine. He also said that, based on the severity of the fine already levied out, that no further fine would be issued regardless of what was found.

How could it have been Ty Law when Law was playing during the SB. The violation occured during the 2001 season. If I had to take a guess, it would be Adrian Klemm or Jabari Holloway.

Kingsbury wasn't on the team in 2001.

So it can't be him..

It took longer than that for the league to dish out the punishment to the 49ers and the Broncos.

Also, there won't be any punishment for the IR violation. Any punishment for the ticket scalping will be brought against the player, not the team.

My guess is Marty Moore. Remember, he was the first one Tedy hugged in the locker room after the Snow Bowl. "Never a doubt in my mind, Marty!"

You are definitely the blockhead. Johnson has always had "credibility" about his story. Hell, it was COMMON PRACTICE to put players back out there after concussions. BB is hardly the first coach to have done that.

Also, if you've noticed, in the years since the Johnson incident, the Pats have treated most injuries with kids gloves. Much to the chagrin of many fans who sit there and complain about this person being "always injured' or that person "needing to suck it up." It always amazes me that they are also the ones who get on BB's case about the Ted Johnson incident.

Suspended not IR...my guess is one of the many rooks..many I believe do not understand all the little rules...What do you mean I can't work out?? The way Goodeelll said it..that was NO big deal..that that happens more than once or twice...
