First, Walsh reasons were ridiculous to say the least on his motivation for coming forward and for keeping the tapes. But most of all, he stated that he didn't know of any other teams that did this. We know that he knows his NY JETS did it after they were told not to by the Patriots not by a memo! The credibility of the league might suffer if it is perceived that the commissioner is protecting one team at the expense of another.

He's just playing dumb. He knows that his own rules allow signal stealing and the videotaping of signals (from certain locations)

He also knows that the Dolphins were caught using tapes of stolen signals in 2006 against the Patriots and that the NFL's spokesman stated that there was nothing wrong with with adding, "That's football"

By playing dumb and using the Patriots as a scapegoat he retains the hope that most fans will never discover that he allows signal stealing with the use of videotape

I agree he's playing dumb, the dumb comment was mostly aimed at his reiterating Walsh's stupid reasons. But I believe he's dumb by playing dumb, the speculation is fueled in a large part by the Pats success; by ignoring the other teams indiscretions he allows other fans to believe that the advantage was greater than it actually was and that their teams are above reproach. The very thing that keeps this stupid thing going. He believes the credibility of the league would further be harmed by the truth; I believe the opposite! Being stupid (acting dumb) lends no amount of credibility to any investigation!

Quote from Goodell: "There was no crowd noise violations anywhere that he was aware of."

Obviously, the guy's never been to the cathedral at Foxboro and had a fan in back of him tell him to sit down and shut up.

If there's one thing the Pats will never be accused of is enhancing crowd noise.

ROGER GOODELL IS A BRILLIANT MAN!!!

What better way to shut Specter up than to tell him publicly, thank you we are concerned about the leagues credibility and are going to start leaguewide investigations into other teams trying to gain competitive edges; I think we'll start with the Eagles and Steelers. I'd like to see how that would fly in Pa. And then tell NY reporters we're going to look at the Jets and Giants because of BB's past ties to both teams! This story would end!

He is not playing dumb. He knows exactly what he is doing. He came into this thing with a hatred for Bill Belichick (goes back to Goodell's days with the Jets and the fact that Roger is a person raised in a New York atmosphere) and he has used his position as commissioner to fulfill an agenda.

He is far from dumb. His silence on most of the issues is his way of allowing this per permeate it's way through the media and get bigger in the eyes of the fans, and the media which is exactly his intention.

To hear the Pats get booed in one stadium after another is music to his ears. He probably records the sound of the boos and puts the tape playing under his pillow at night.

I think he is a very, very scrupulous and dangerous man to have that much power.

This guy will not serve more than one term in that Office.
MARK IT DOWN!!

Anytime they want. They would have to pay him. I would not be surprised if he doesn't survive the opting out of the agreement.

He causes a lot of problems for Pats lately because he bounds to Specter.
AMEN.!:rocker:

That's not the only reason. He has shown a marked lack of professionalism, IMHO, in the way he handles league matters. From suspending players to this entire Spygate BS.

If I'm Kraft, I'm absolutely livid at Roger for gleefully calling Belichick a liar, AND referring to Walsh's testimony as the thing that impugns Belichick. He even called Walsh "Matt." and Goodell had a smile on his face when he said this.

Meanwhile the Patriots haven't gone into background on all the other teams that they have evidence of cheating (Phins, Jets) in order to preserve the NFL's rep.

But it's OK for the commish to trash Belichick as a liar.

OK, call him a cheater for all I care, but calling him a liar is uncalled for.

I can't believe that Kraft would be happy with Goodell's glee and trashing of Belichick yesterday.

I don't know if anybody notices that the problem keeps getting worse every day whenever Goofdell opens his mouth.

It shows that he doesn't have everything under the control. When he tries to solve one problem, he creates another and makes the previous one worse. He is truly an incompetent fool.

Why do you say he's incompetent?

Are you sure he's not doing it on purpose?

Look at the way he handles the Spygate. He surely doesn't improve the situation except making it worse. 8 freaking months and the case is not close. WTF.???
