Re: ESPN Hatchett Job

You see, any fan that feels anything other than man love for the Patriots is insulted and will probably be banned. Open you eyes! Wake the **** up people! This franchise will forever bare a scarlet letter just as Trey Wingo said.

What?!?!? You're comparing the taping of a football game to adultery???

How positively Gothic!!!!

Get a grip, man!

Re: ESPN Hatchett Job

You don't know if it didn't influence our SB's. That's a fact. To say that it didn't influence our SB's is not fact it's only "we hope it didn't influence."

I don't feel it did...so why do I care? If you do then that's your prerogative. I wouldn't let ESPN influence that opinion.

Re: ESPN Hatchett Job

I'm not here to sway anyone or sound like OMFG! I will continue to pull for the team I've pulled for since I was 8 years old. I however, will never have respect for BB and what he's done to this organization and it's players. I wish the Pats had never even hired him. I am just genuinely very angry. And having to see these tapes is awful.

Re: ESPN Hatchett Job

They had one - Sean Salisbury - but they fired him.

And yes, Schlereth and Carter are going off the deep end. But they always resort to the "if they didn't get a huge advantage then why did they do it" crap.

The FIRST thing I noticed about those tapes is....they were obviously edited! They couldn't be used during the same game!

==================================

They don't look edited to me, if they are they did a ****ty job of it.

Re: ESPN Hatchett Job

ESPN is a complete joke, they're stating speculation as fact and talking out their ass.

Re: ESPN Hatchett Job

The most surprising thing to me is how outraged they are when they see the sideline shots spliced in with the end zone view (like the coaches tape they get every week). This edit would obviously happen post-game and couldn't possibly happen at halftime. That would seem to prove Belichick's point that this was information processed for post-game analysis and not used in game. They are totally ignoring this and still plowing along with their rants about how this information was an unfair advantage during the 2nd half of games. Simply braindead analysis. They have a conclusion and the facts be damned.

So then how did they suddenly get end zone shot of the play in there?

What team is that you rooted for the Giants or the Cowboys. No BB MEANS NO Lombardi, Yeah I too wish he had never shown up changed the culture of of a franchise and a region altogether, man I miss Tony Eason too.....

Re: ESPN Hatchett Job

Thank the lord... did everyone else here just hear Goodell state with no uncertainty, that it IS PERMISSABLE to scout other teams signals, and they take great lengths to protect them as such.

This is the best thing i've heard him say so far.:rocker:

Can someone please state what is on these tapes, I am at work.

However, anything that is done for everyone to see, aka team signals, cannot be that bad. Team signals are not a private act, they are always out in the open, they always have been since the beginning of sportsmanship, they have to be in order to work. The fact that the Pats taped them from the wrong location for their own records is not all that bad, as a matter of fact, it is has always been beyond me why anyone would think this is so horrible in the first place, I would even argue that that league rule is incorrect and Belichick's interpretation was the better one, that its ok to use video on the sidelines as long as its after the game (can anyone give a good justification for not allowing video camera's on the sidelines, I can't think of one). If teams didn't want signals out in the open, they wouldn't use them.

Your acting like they videotaped Goodell and Polian in the sack and played it for everyone to see...calm down...and if it pains you that much to watch, treat it like porn and look away.

I know nothing about editing, and I only watched about 4 minutes of the tapes, so.....

Re: ESPN Hatchett Job

LOL! Matt Walsh shot down Schreleth's theory that the tapes were used during the games. Walsh told Goodell that every game he would have the tape himself all game and then hand it off to Ernie Adams at the end of the game.

That SHOULD be the end of everything right there. Everything.

It won't, but it should.

Regardless, I'm sigging it when we have a direct quote.

Re: ESPN Hatchett Job

Calm down everyone. I have a feeling the Patriots brass is just about ready to get their very own PR campaign started.

It's about damn time!

It won't be the end. I guarantee you that Specter's press conference will have a much different tone than Goodell's. I don't see ESPN or the NYT backing down either whether it is to split more hairs with this incident or try to dig up more dirt on the Patriots even if they have to manufacture it like the NYT did this past weekend.

He says he didn't believe Walsh. He believes that Walsh could shoot the sideline, have another person shoot the end zone view, take both tapes in at halftime, splice them together on tape (not digital as the Crypt Keeper mentioned earlier), have someone go through the spliced tape and analyze the signals and resulting play, develop a digestable set of notes (nobody on the sidelines whispering in Belichick's ear), get those notes to the coaches on the field, have a coach responsible for spotting the defensive signals, read off the notes, communicate to Belichick, get the play relayed to Brady before the coaching communications shut off, have Brady adjust the play and gain an unfair advantage in the 2nd half of games.

That is the singular most insane thing I have ever heard. Ever.

Edit: Another point...do the tapes show any video of the 2nd half of games? They should be able to see that now. If the 2nd half of games are taped, they certainly weren't used for that game.

Re: ESPN Hatchett Job

How bout, the fact that Walsh admitted that he HAS NEVER MET BB!!! Called him "the man behind the curtain".

I think it is clear from the one-sidedness of ESPN's coverage, that they know, the Pats are shutting them out.

I can't wait for the Patriots press release, I can only hope they come out with both barrels.

Re: ESPN Hatchett Job

Carter: "if somebody would tell me that they didn't use it in the game..."

Walsh just did. He JUST did. Like, thirty seconds ago.

Schlereth and Chris Carter

Two of the biggest...... i've ever seen.

Schlereth says the videotaping doesn't compare to the salary cap violations of the broncos. he said that's like comparing a big crime to a speeding ticket. yeah, getting john elway and terrell davis under contract is akin to a speeding ticket.

Who would let him comment on this? Honestly, what type of news organization thinks that's appropriate?
