Go over to the Boston Herald sports page and read the comments on EVERY Tomase article that allows comments. Boy are they admitting their mistake by shutting down the comments section of the Tomase article about what Walsh actually gave to the Commish.

Im still supporting the Boston herald ban, but man are the comments HILARIOUS!

My personal favorite? From TomaseLovesTheC**k: "Your article sucked you obese ***got. An absolutely pitiful piece by the ugliest thing I have ever seen. Aren't you ashamed to have your picture up there for the world to see how fat and disgusting looking you are?"

There is nothing better than pissed off New Englanders...that patented sarcasm goes to Ludicrous speed!

Maybe it's me but I didn't see anything funny in that. More sad, really, for everybody involved. I still can't wrap my head around the (perceived? real?) benefit of calling people stupid names on the internet.

I think ESPN news anchors take their job too serious when it comes to spygate. Perhaps, they need something to light them up and i'm sure any good humor articles will do it.

First that is not sarcasm. Second it is not even witty. It's merely a string of very cruel profanities and insults. We are better than this.

can somebody post the link of all comments at Boston Herald here so that i can spend my quality time.? Thank you.

Are you from here?? :confused:Most New Englanders will blast him with that kind of stuff in person, if not worse. That's mild.

I am, but that doesn't mean that I see a place for vitriol as low as this. I don't respect the man, or his paper, but schoolyard insults and personal attacks are not acceptable in my book. Address the issues, not the man.

Think about what our own Coach Belichick went through in Cleveland. I'd think Patriots fans would have more sensitivity about gearing up the lynch mob, based on that alone.

YOU, and those like you on this forum, are complete and total jerks. LEAVE.

Sadly, we're not.
Profanity, name calling and perhaps from some few, even threats.

It's clear that Tomasse's career here is over. Whether he has a sportswriting jig anyplace else is also in question. Not just losing your job but blowing your career and its effect on your family is pretty severe. However, I will save my concern for the myriad others out there who through little fault of their own are at similar risk. Tommy Boy earned his reward.

You might not see a place for it (nor do I for that matter), but you should expect nothing less from the fans in this area. We are not really known for holding back when it comes to personal insults.

If you have ever been to Fenway or the old Foxboro, you know what Im saying.

EXACTLY. Now that this has been somewhat resolved every reporter out there is admitting they had heard the rumor for years and were doing everything they could to get some hard evidence, but because none of them could they would not run with the story. Tomase and the Herald chose not only to run with it, but publish it the DAY BEFORE the Superbowl. Shame on him, and shame on his editors, for bringing out that big black cloud at the time that they did. Tomase needs to go start over somewhere else.

Actually, the buck doesn't stop with Tomasse. His editors at the Herald are equally, if not more so, guilty of publishing Tomasse's article. And yet, they get off scott-free even though it's they who set the editorial policy of the Herald. So the total ban/boycott of the Herald from all things Patriot is most appropriate.

Yeah, exactly what you would say if someone robbed you at knifepoint then beat you so bad you were in the hospital, and the police caught him. "No, Officer, don't arrest him. I prefer to address the socio-economic issues that caused him to to rob and mutilate me rather than have him be responsible for his own actions. I will write a polite letter to the editor when my vison returns. Assuming I regain use of my fingers."

I don't think they should get off with it. I think everyone involved with the Sports page at the Herald should lose their jobs. They're guilty as well as Tomasse. Tomasse gets more attention though because he is the hand that swung the axe, so to speak.

1) Invalid analogy

2) Appeal to emotion

3) False dilemma

Please think first. Then post.

Also, please don't put words into other people's mouths. It's never productive, and usually degrades the dialog rather than enhancing it. You really have no idea my thoughts would be under those circumstances.

Speak for yourself and not for MOST New Englanders. As much as I dislike Tomase and would flip him the bird if I saw him those comments are pathetic and sound like an 8th grader wrote them.

Hmm....

I'd think Patriots fans would have more sensitivity about gearing up the lynch mob, based on that alone.

Pot, meet kettle.

Pot, meet kettle.

You know, I thought about it, and I really don't see any valid connection here. Both are reasonable statements, and there's certainly no hypocrisy there.

My expectation that Patriots fans might be a little less willing to personally attack unpopular figures based on their own coach's experience in Cleveland is not putting words into anybody's mouth. There's no real appeal to emotion, it just frames the question differently. There's no false dilemma. And the analogy is a good one: unpopular figure decried and attacked personally.

If you could be more specific I could address your intent.

The analogy is horrible. BB in Cleveland was vilified for cutting a popular hometown quarterback for the betterment of his team, and then was blamed for the owner moving the team. Tomase and the Herald published a RUMOR as FACT the day before the Superbowl, and it has since been proven there was nothing to support their publishing of that article. The two situations are not even close.
