Just wondering how this "spygate" nonsense has affected folks here. I'm personally weary of all the negativity continually heaped on the team because of this crap and wish it would just go away. I have a friend, however, who has been so turned off by it that he isn't even following the team this offseason. What do you think?

If anything it's caused me to tune out the rantings and opinions of other teams fans if they show an obvious bias and incapability of simple comprehension.

But in terms of the Patriots, it hasn't affected me at all.

I hate it, but I haven't tuned the off-season out. People are going to say what they want and take advantage of a bad situation. With all the crap talking our fans have done over the past few years, some of us had it coming...but we all take the brunt of it.

The sad thing about Spygate is the loss of journalistic integrity we have witness both here in Boston and on ESPN and other networks/publications. I don't trust a lot of what is written, and I borderline hate ESPN now.

Somewhere between wanting to fight back and it being a royal pain in the ass.

It's killed me - just killed me. Homerville will never be the same.

I voted for No. 2, not because it has really changed my opinion of the Pats - I still love them dearly and will follow them with as much passion as ever. However, I was disappointed in BB that he would put the Pats in this position, and I am disgusted with the way this has stayed front & center for almost a year now. Following pro football is a means of escape and enjoyment for me. The heavy-handed mishandling of things by Roger Goodell, plus the gleeful piling on and on and on and on... by the media has really been a downer for me. It has, as the poll says, seriously affected my enjoyment of the Pats (much more so than the SB loss, which I got over after a few months). I wish it would all just go away, but it seems it never will as long as BB is associated with the Pats. That is a shame, for the fans, the players and the organization.

Multiple choices would have been preferable as one who enjoys the soap opera, thinks it's just a nuisance and feels that Kraft has not effectively managed the PR fallout. I was away traveling so I missed the Tomasse article and all the furor. I don't watch pre-game blather so I only found out about the Tomasse Walsh update after the fact. Well after because at 20 seconds to go in the SB, I shut it off and stayed away from all sports news for a couple weeks. Just had to see all the Jints fans at Disney the next morning wearing their SB caps.

Also, I never watch ESPN nor do I read the mediots so my blood pressure stays low on the Pats hatred front.

It's made me hate the media and fans of other teams more and made me realize how stupid most of them are. It's also made me hate Jolly Roger. Yep, lots of hatred going on here.

How I feel about the Patriots, though, hasn't been affected - I don't look down on Belichick or feel in any way embarassed over what happened.

Well said, I feel the same way. It's like you can't focus on the team and football because there's always this annoying "but" attached to everything they do. What's most disheartening for me is how inaccurate and unfair 90 percent of the criticism has been and that the Kraft public relations staff hasn't done much to address it.

................................:agree:

I voted for the "it pisses me off" choice. I think it has been clearly defined that all teams do whatever they can to get an "edge", the Pats just got caught.
I was really enjoying the manhandling the Patriots were handing out thru the beginning of the season thru the midway point, only wish they could've continued that trend.
I have been a fan since the mid-'70's. If I have stuck by them thru all these years, this surely is not going to deter me.

I used to be a fan of NFL history, and appreciated the old heroes of the game, no matter what team they played for.

After LIEgate, I am just a Patriot fan. I can no longer acknowledge the greatness of other NFL teams and players past and present.

How could I possibly appreciate teams under Papa Bear Halas, the man who bugged opposing lockerrooms? Lamar Hunt, spy chief? George Allen, spy master? Marty Schottenheimer, camera spy (according to Jimmy Johnson)? Polian who employs notorious spy man Howard Mudd? The SD Chargers, coached by famed spy Sid Gillman, and the first team to use steroids as its official training regimen? The Steelers whose great '70s ground game was fuled by 'roids, as well as its defense, according to Jim Haslett? The Cowboys, coached by spy guy Jimmy Johnson? The Giants coached by spy mentor Bill Parcells? The Redskins, coached by Spy guy George Allen? The Eagles, who shut off the Bears coach to Qb device during the final drive last season?

etc.

The whole league is a sham of "spying" and I can't look at any of those old "glory" shots anymore from NFL films. Too much spying.

Pony, I just printed that out and am going to commit those examples to memory. Thanks for the ammunition for defense!

It's improved my life because I've stopped watching ESPN, listening to ESPN radio, and going to their website, ever since they ran with the walk-through thing the day before the superbowl. They've crapped all over NE fans, probably some of their best customers.

BB is old school and I like him more now.

The only problem with this poll is that all we need is one idiot troll going back to his home board to get people to vote on this. It "should" only be for those who have been members for a minimum period of time.

We'll have to see how it goes, but there's no way of stopping fans from opposing teams from casting a vote.

I chose "It has been a nuisance..."

All this negative press has done nothing more but strengthen my love for this team. Especially after yesterday where it became apparent that journalists on ESPN and the Boston Herald just flat out do not like the Patriots and continued to spew negativity all over the team despite the fact that the Walsh proceedings pretty much fell flat on their face. It's us against the world now, as my signature at ColtFreaks said.

I put "us against the world", but its also been a terrible and draining nuisance. Especially Super Bowl week. Thanks Tomasse!

I hope Goodell seals the deal this Tuesday one and for all. 19-0 is what i look for in this season and it is the only way that we can prove to the world that we are the BEST.

I stopped caring about Spygate back in September, after we smacked the Chargers and Pats fans showed their love for BB and the team. Honestly one of the reasons why I'm not posting here as much as I used to is because this place has turned into Spygatefans.com.

The only real affect could have came about if Walsh actually had any real evidence about the so-called Rams walk-through.

Other than that, I didn't care since people refused to undertstand the rule and believe Goodell's comment's on the matter.

Only problem that I do have is the punishment for the infraction.

Looking forward to a new season but a different outcome!
