Draft 'should have been'

DRC was their #1 CB

I don't believe that for a second, regardless of how many people in the media have jumped on it.

Of course, I could be wrong. But I do know that rumor didn't originate in Foxboro. It was some journalists educated guess.

About DRC being their #1, I do believe t because it came form Adam Schefter and Michael Smith. Two writers who I believe and trust. I really don't believe that Wheatley was their #2 corner, if anything I'd say Top 5, because if he really was thier #2 CB, I could of seen them moving up in Round 2 to make sure they got him. I'm sure he was in their top 5 or 6, just not their top 2.

It's certainly possible that I mis-heard.

I think Adam Schefter is the most reliable source out there, even when he was a Broncos beat reporter. However, I think he either guessed wrong, or was used as a screen in this case. With Detroit hot for Mayo, I could see the Pats planting a leak that they were trading down to target DRC to prevent the Lions from leaping to 8 or 9.

I think it would have been Flowers, too.

Dunno who they might have targeted, but I'd have loved to see Jordy Nelson, though it was a surprise when he was drafted that high.

I would think there would have been a HUGE chance the pick would have been used to move up or down so I think this point is irrelevant

For those of us who think the unprecedented penalty of the 1st round draft pick being taken away was bogus and wonder what could have been next year if we still had our picks.......

Here were the guys taken after pick # 30

31 NYG Kenny Phillips S MIAMI (FLA.)
32 MIA Phillip Merling DE CLEMSON
33 StL Donnie Avery WR HOUSTON
34 Wash Devin Thomas WR MICHIGAN STATE
35 KC Brandon Flowers CB VIRGINIA TECH
36 GB Jordy Nelson WR KANSAS STATE
37 ATL Curtis Lofton ILB OKLAHOMA
38 SEA John Carlson TE NOTRE DAME
39 SF Chilo Rachal OG USC
40 NO Tracy Porter CB INDIANA

I know "what ifs" are for children; but its a long off-season; SO just supposing.... IS THERE ANYBODY FROM THE NEXT 10 PICKS that you would have wanted?

There are 2 CBs, a potential MLB, a TE and an OG in the list.

Trade up for Cason..............................:rocker:

It would of been one of the CBs whoever was rated highest by them at the time. Hell, it could have been Wheatley.

I will watch Kenny Phillips career with interest ... especially if Matt Slater is groomed as a SS. Slater has more tools than Phillips and was our 5th round pick ... yup ... going to watch this one real close.

More tools? In what way? Phillips seems more physically gifted and Slater looks like more of a ST ace than an actual safety. However if you've got support for your assertion, please present your proof.
