Here's a taller CB we almost got:

Off of Reiss' blog:

In the fifth round, the Patriots were keeping a close eye on Nebraska defensive back Zackary Bowman and began working the phone lines in hopes of striking a deal to select him. A tentative deal was in place with the Jaguars at No. 153 if Bowman was available. It appeared as if things would work out, but the Bears snared Bowman at No. 152 and the deal was off.

Darn he was a guy had them targetting too. They also just missed out on Patrick Lee in the 2nd round.

Damned Bears! :p Ah well, that's just how it goes.

Yep. The front office obviously targeted Mayo, Wheatley (took him early to some despite having three 3rd round picks), Crable (were going to take him at 69), and Slater (traded up to get him). Can't get 'em all.

I suppose it worked out for the best, injuries in two years seems to cause some concern

The team\'s obvious extra efforts at the CB position, from free agency, the draft and now with Law and Shepherd as possibilites are a sure sign IMO that they are not satisfied with Hobbs as one of the starting corners and realize that they have to go all out to make improvements in that area.

Question of perspective I guess. I though it had more to do with the losses of Samuel, Wilson, & Gay.

In part yes. But also there could be a disatsisfaction with the current players at that position, IMO of course.

This could turn out to be a good thing though. It is time they really paid some attention to the corner back situation.

There's nothing wrong with Ellis Hobbes.

Yet they've cut some tall cornerbacks who were drafted higher.

I wouldn't lose sleep over a CB we missed in the fifth considering we had three thirds and a fourth.

If healthy, former 1st Chad Scott and former fourth Sanders have plenty of size
