In his interview with Mike Reiss (link below) this was one of the questions asked and answered.

You mentioned earlier you were a fan of the Patriots. Did you follow them growing up? Did you just watch them on TV and enjoy what you see from afar?

"I feel like any college athlete that has played for any school would love to play for the Patriots. During the football season, you have no choice but to watch the Patriots. They are always winning games and they are always a contender. For the past five or six years I have been a Patriots fan and I have loved the team and coaches. I think they have outstanding coaches and I consider it a well-disciplined place, where any player would love to be around."

It made me an immediate fan of Wilhite :D. How can one not like a kid who is as intelligent as he is when it comes to picking out your favorite football team? :D

He's got speed and smarts, and he loves our team concept. He won't make an impact this season or next season, but he will somewhere down the line.

Listening to the conference calls of all the picks it was clear that it was an intelligent bunch. Wilhite was probably the least confident speaker, but his answers were still good.

Wheatley gave just about the most impressive rookie conference call I've heard.

Agreed, listening to Wheatley you'd think it was a 10 year veteran talking... very intelligent guy, can't wait to see his contribution this year
