BB very high on Pierre Woods

One thing that came through clearly from BB's Sunday presser was his high opinion of Pierre Woods. He compares Crable to Woods, and when a reporter asks "how can you compare a high 3rd rdr with an UFA", BB bristles and says, "Pierre was one of the best players in the country as a [junior]", and goes on to basically rip the Michigan coaching staff for not playing him as a senior. He compares the Woods situation with Brady not becoming a full time starter under Carr.

I gathered from these comments that Pierre is definitely in the picture as a starter at OLB in the future.

Stop trolling around acting like a bafoon. BB and Pioli brought this team 3 sb's, and they know how to draft (and how to rate their players). BB and Pioli took this team out of the gutter through FA and the Draft. They have made some mistakes along the way, but it is a proven fact that they know what they are doing in the draft. They have struck gold far more times than not.

I was a big time Maroney hater at the start of the season, but by years end Maroney was tearing it up, and I saw why he was drafted.


Harping on a single mistake, and trying to define ones ability (or career) over it is plain old stupid, even for you. Shut up until training camp at least, will ya?

I know right, did you see Brady throw that pick a few years ago to Champ Bailey that ended the pats SB hopes? Sh*t, I knew at that point that Brady was a horrible QB, and it was highly unlikley he would ever get into the hall of fame.

I love the knee jerk, bandwagon fans on this website. Half of em dont even follow college football, and they think the hot pick that idiot Kiper is talking about is the only way to go.

Do you pay attention to what BB says at all? He rarely drafts LB because it takes a couple of years to learn the system. Woods has now had his two year apprenticeship and expect to see more of him this year.

You won't be seeing Crable, Mayo or Ruud making a huge impact this year. I know that won't prevent you from crying that the draft was a waste when Mayo doesn't start the first game of the season, but players take time to coach and develop.

Yes, I got that message too. It confirms what I was thinking before the draft. I remember reading in one of the pre-draft articles (I think it was in the Globe, although I'm not sure if it was Reiss or Gasper) that the Patriots have Woods in their minds as part of the linebacker corps.

I'm excited by Woods -- he seems to have a lot of speed and power (but then, I was excited by Klecko and Tully Banta-Cain).

I like pierre woods , seems like a nice guy .You see him and fauria regularly on saturday afternoon the kids play area in emerald mall and they are very friendly.

He is ripped physically i am 6 3,250 so he looks smaller than me but i am sure he is all power.I remember last year matt light charity AD claiming woods is the best athelte in the team.

I think that having on-field Coaches like AD, Vrabel and Bruschi will accelerate the development of Mayo and Crable. Their athleticism will be hard to keep off the field. They should work primarily on "Third Down" situations and expand their role from there.

You might be right about Alexander. He's had enough time to show what he can do. We just drafted three linebackers and we signed another one as an Undrafted RFA. I will not be surprised if they do decide to cut him if one of the new guys looks better.

I'd take everything he says publicly about guys on the team with a grain of salt and pay more attention to who he puts on the field.

Can anyone remember BB not being high on a player publicly? I rememebr him at a press conference talking about Rohan Davey so highly you'd think he was taking over for Brady. It was a couple hours after they had cut Davey.

Woods has been a good ST player but did not see the field that much in ther regular D after Colvin went down. They essentially wnet with 4 LBs the rest of the way. That probably speaks more to how high they are on him than what BB says to the press.
