For the love of God, can the Pats please draft a CB that they can successfully line up with a 6' 4" receiver? We all saw CBs struggle to go up with Moss last year, and the multiple receptions that Plax had that midget Hobbs had no chance on (due to height).

Even if its a depth move and not a starter, we need a tall CB!!

Do you have a recommendation, or are you just venting? FYI, just went through the top- 25 CB's(draftscout.com) and none are taller than 6' 1". Of those Moulden might be a fit, Reggie Smith is almost certainly a conversion project to Safety.

Darnell Terrell would be my pick. good height and athletic. I dont think they will go with Molden due to some of his intelligence issues.

Patience then. He should be available in the 6th round.

I'll take speed, brains and playmaking ability over height - anyday.

Chevis Jackson at 78.

Terrell & Molden raise red flags on field vision and awareness, not the area I'd like to compromise on. I'll take Reggie Smith & Chevis Jackson as good-sized players who fit the Pats profile better.

Not to put you on the spot, but I don't remember a single play all year where Hobbs got outjumped for the ball. Ball skills, athleticism and a good vert can erase any height advantage pretty quickly. I want guys who can stick to receivers and make breaks out of zone. If once or twice a season they get there and a 6'4 WR outjumps them for the ball, so be it.

In response to your question, I believe that Terrell Thomas would have been a far better choice at CB than Wheatley.

Every scouting report gave Thomas much higher grades than Wheatley And on top of it all Wheatly is damaged goods.

Physically speaking he may make it to the hospital quicker than he will the roster.

He rarely got outumped for the ball mainly because he wasn\'t close enough to the receiver to jump for the ball. In most cases he was deked by the receiver or was coming up from behind and getting flagged for pass interference, even if it wasn\'t a good call. Perception is reality.

Hobbs can not stick with receivers. His one on one coverage is horrible. I am sure that almost everyone recognizes that. What he does have is the capability of recovering via his speed but by then in most cases it is too late or the flag flies.

My guess is that the Pats finally have seen that or they would not be going so heavy into the Cb position in free agency and in the draft. With more to come too, perhaps Law or Shepherd, and the rumor of them moving Merriweather up to corner.

All of this talk and action from them with corners should be a hint.

What do you think of Josh McDaniels? Is he better than Charlie Weis?

If height truly mattered, Lenny Walls would be a competent DB.

Obviously height doesn't hurt, but I wouldn't sacrifice athleticism or ball-skills for size. The guy is less than 1/2 an inch shorter than Asante is.

If anything, people thought we've neglected the position. Hobbs is a starter. Deal with it.

Wheatley is damaged goods, so you want Terrell Thomas? The same Terrell Thomas that had reconstructive knee surgery and surgery on both shoulders?

Um - you do realize the first two rounds of the draft started YESTERDAY don't you?

Are you expecting that tall CBs with speed and talent aren't really in demand and can be found late in the draft?

Which tall CB did you have in mind?

I am sorry, I have to ask - are you a self-loathing little person?

Therein lies the problem with your thread. The corner's height alone does not determine how successful he will be against a 6'4" receiver. BB will draft the corners he thinks will help us most, whether they be 5'8" or 6'2".
