There was a great opprotunity in the second round to grab Groves and the Pats blew it.
We need a 2 and a 5 in 2009. Just watch LOL.
Exactly how did the Pats blow it? Groves was drafted ten picks before the Pats drafted in the second round. How do you know the Pats didn't try to trade up, but got no takers? Or that they did try to trade up to where the Jags did, but the Jags' offer was better but they didn't give the Bucs an opportunity to get a counter offer from the Pats?
To say the Pats blew it is a little unfair. Since none of us have access to what is going on in the war rooms, we don't know if the Pats had a realistic shot at all.
Do any of you see the Pats giving away one of their thirds for maybe a 4th rounder and a 4th round pick in 2009
or maybe trade away one of the thirds for a 5th rounder and a 3rd round pick in 2009 ?
I would
The Jags only gave up a 5th round pick and swapped 2nd's. Armed with 3 third rounders, your telling me the Pats couldn't match that? Granted, I wouldn't have given up any of my third rounders but I'm sure the Pats could have got creative with their other picks. Your right, it is unfair to say the Pats blew because Groves may turn out to be a dud and Wheatley a stud, so I'm keeping an open mind with the Pats decisions thus far.
The point of pushing picks forward is to use them when there is a draft that has quality players in your areas of need. This is such a draft for us.
