Herm maybe one of the worst coaches in KC History but give the guy some credit here - He wheeled and dealed like a true professional and had one of the best drafts in round 1 that I can remember in a very long time

3 awesome young talent in positions the team needs and if they can contribute solidly in each of the positions this team will be a contender within a short few years.

All thier picks were expected top athletes and there were no gambles or reaches and the trades did not hurt them with many picks for them left to go.

Lets give credit where credit is due,Edwards and the KC FO was Pioli and Polian-like today, maybe even better.

No matter what happens tomorrow,KC gets an A++ in this draft for a very nice job....

I'm not sold on Flowers but they had a fantastic first round. I think Dorsey will be really good. Pat Williams with quickness good.

You mean Carl Peterson?

Why are you sure of that?

NO DUH,the fu(king coach had nothing to do with any of the moves today the team made ,He just sits there with his arms at his side and watches the board and is told to shut up and say nothing concerning the future of the team he coaches .

Please dont act stupid,Nearly all of NFL Head Coaches have a say or word in what the team should do with the only possible exception being rookie coaches or relatively inexperienced professional head coaches on his new team.

And BTW Herm Edwards was only seen at the combine to get the free buffet the stadium had after the competition had ended, he was not there to scout any players out just waiting for lunch to start

Carl Peterson is the GM, Team President, and CEO. He has been there 19 years. He runs the draft. I mean, I'm sure Edwards had input, but what exactly did he do worth congratulating? Moved up from 17 to 15? Surely Peterson made this move. Other than that, it was a.....draft like any other: they just had more picks.

They had more picks - Got solid compensation in trade for losing thier best Defensive End to a guy that could be even better than Allen or at least has all the talent to be better and they also added some of the best players in the round

Yes,It was good and was probably studied hard and handled to perfection by everyone invloved in the running of the teams operation- I hope our team has a chiefs-like day tomorrow.

If this draft does not help the Chiefs win 6 or as much as 7 games in 2008 I will be surprised

Yeah, Peterson again. He traded Allen.

You think Edwards had something to do with the trading of Allen? Maybe Edwards dialed the Vikings front office, but the handset was passed to Peterson before the first hello was exchanged.

I do not care how many games the Chiefs win next season, as long as they start out Zero and One.

Yeah, Peterson again. He traded Allen.

I am sure that Peterson did NOT let Allen go nor any major draft trades without the consent and approval of Edwards,Who knows whose idea it was?.

You don't just do things like trade your best player to another team without the concent and agreeable Head Coach.

It takes more than just 1 guy to come up with some good moves in operating a football team.

Without Pioli's thinking our team may not be anywhere near what it is - Without Belichick's wisdom we know it would not be

If the Chiefs beat the Pats in Foxboro in week 1 (probably as a 12 point underdog) - Change your channels on sunday all year long afterwards,Its gonna be an ugly season.

Amen my brother!

1. Nope. He doesn't need Edwards approval or consent. If he did, that would be defined in their job titles.

2. The relationship between Peterson and Edwards is not the same as Belichick and Pioli.

3. Peterson is terrible. And no, it doesn't take more than 1 guy to make a few good moves, which these have debatably been. Does it take more than 1 guy to make terrible moves?

As a GM,I think Bill Polian is a genius and is the best by far in the business (Yes he is better than Pioli IMO),He has built a consistent and solid foundation for a team that relies nearly 100% on the draft and the draft only for major contributors to his team,But I think even a great mind like his, consults with Dungy and what he thinks before drafting guys.

If you have not noticed, the Colts have been the quietest team in the NFL this year with barely no moves at all in FA (although the cap was pretty high for them) - Watch thier selections this draft and see who is a starter,I bet you 3 or 4 of these guys see the field opening day and 2 of them play at a high level.

What does this post have to do with the price of tea in China?

Just comparing some HCs and GMs and even the best interact with each other IMO,That was my point here.

Okay, lets agree the Chiefs had a great draft and disagree that Edwards deserves specific kudos.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion,Thats what makes this an open forum and I respect anyone who disagrees without using blasphemic intended insults or profanity
