if we didnt take him, he couldnt at least go to another team which sucks or int he NFC?

teh chargers are gonna have a killer secondary

It kills me because he went where he was expected to go. I wonder if the Pats tried to trade up for him, or figured he might fall to them.

If we walk away from this draft with Jerod Mayo and a handful of projects, having gone in with the #7 pick....I will be majorly dissapointed.

chargers fan here

why so down about mayo? i heard he's pretty good.

why lament over not getting a top cb? , you guys pretty much plug anyone into that scheme and make them look good right?

it's like wr for you guys (aside from moss ) you've really not needed upper echelon players to look good ya know?

just need those guys who buy into your system

i myself am dissapointed we couldn't get cromartie, but cason's cool, he was supposed to go to us according to alot of the early mocks, and with aj smith drafting for us, i really didn't give a **** who he picks, he does a very good job at finding talent, so i just get excited about whoever they pick.

it's a clear move IMO that AJ wants to make a very good secondary even better because he knows it's indy and ne as the main threats again.

anyway, that mayo guy looks very good

thanks, good luck to u guys next year

ull find that a LOT of people on these boards wanted cason....MANY of us think he will be the best CB out of this draft class...i among them

i also think the younger cromartie wont be all that good

Ughh. It was a tough one to take. I'm alright with Mayo, but a lot of people including myself had their hearts set on Cason. Oh well.

here's what our GM said about him -

“We got a guy that we think is going to be a terrific football player. Solid character, work ethic, production over the years. Fantastic. Just to admit to you, everybody wonders what we’re going to do, I think it was obvious to the nation, tackle and corner. (There were) a lot of quality, good football players and we got ourselves one.”

good luck to you guys with mayo as well

Don't forget that Weddle started coming on strong toward the end of the season. That secondary, combined with a killer pass rush is going to make a lot of plays next season.

And then the Jags got Harvey and Groves. While the Colts picked up the best center available.

And us? We are literally left holding the Mayo!!!!!

Cromartie, Weddle, and Cason. Yeah, good luck throwing on that secondary. Looks like the Chargers will be in the playoff hunt again this year.

u have to have some amazing offense to throw against that...

like one of the best QB's ever, with one of the best WR's ever, and an amazing wr in the slot, while having a RB that catches the ball from the backfield, and a good pass catching TE who can also block, with an oline that can offer good protection

only the pats can throw on SD now, and maybe the colts and boys

I hate the Chargers but I gotta admit that their GM, AJ Smith, can really find some good players.

Well Denver had a secondary consisting of Dre Bly and Champ Bailey and thier record finished at 7-9 - You need that front 7 to help out quite a bit no matter who is back there.

With guys like Merriman, Castillo, Phillips, and Jamaal Williams, the Chargers front 7 can bring plenty of heat to make the secondary's job easier.
