Rather than clutter this page with several threads, thought it best to have one multi-purpose thread for today's happenings. Please feel free to add anything you hear or see that's draft related. Post the sources if you're able.

First up:

Cowboys trade Fasano, Ayodele to Dolphins

FOXSports.com has learned that the Dolphins have struck a deal with the Cowboys for tight end Anthony Fasano and linebacker Akin Ayodele.
In exchange for the two players, the Dolphins sent a fourth-round pick to the Cowboys, according to a report on the Dallas Morning News Web site.
When contacted, Fasano confirmed the trade, but details are still being gathered.

According to league sources the Redskins have at least two teams very interested in moving up to the 21st pick if certain players are available, and I continue to think the Skins will make every attempt to move this pick. Depending on the board, they just might be able to do so.
As for making the pick, speaking to lots of people around the league, and had two guys tell me no way Mayo and Harvey are both on the board at 21, and one other scout was adamant that Mayo would be there at 21, but no way on Harvey. Mayo is generating a lot of interest in the 15-20 range, Detroit at 15 could be a very real possibility, but he's quietly risen in stature in Washington.

The Skins scheduled a last minute visit with him recently, league sources said, specifically so owner Dan Snyder could meet with him personally, and Tampa Bay could turn to him as well, one pick before Washington.
If they're both gone I believe the Skins do the prudent thing and take Merling.
Got a decent amount of email about safeties in recent days, particularly Miami's Kenny Phillips. Speaking to coaches and scouts, several people told me they actually think he'll be the second safety chosen, behind Tyrell Johnson of Arkansas St. Two guys were deadest that Johnson could go as high to Philly at 19.

Re: Late breaking draft news and/or rumors thread...

Kansas City is looking to draft two O-linemen, two CB's, two D-linemen, and players at other positions with their mass of picks.

If KC plays their cards right (which they wont) they could easily use this draft to build there team to be a contender.

Schefter: C.Long #2, Matt Ryan #3

Per NFL Network. Falcons will go with Matt Ryan even with Dorsey on the board and the Raiders have their choice of 3 guys they love: Dorsey, McFadden and Gholston.

What does this do to the draft now?

Well it's not a lock yet... but I'd say the Raiders don't go McFadden and take one of the defensive players.

I think there is a real good possibility it comes down to the Jets and their "Patriots obsession" as one article called it. Gholston/McFadden could be there, and they'll have to make up their mind. But then again, Pats might have totally different plans we don't know yet...

Well, if this happens, then the Raiders could select Dorsey, but it seems they've got McFadden in their sites, and Gholston has the Combine numbers Al Davis loves.

Kansas City wants to trade down, and pick up even more picks (they want 15 picks total, and I think they currently have 13). So, they could trade down with someone who's interested in selecting Gholston, Dorsey, or McFadden.

McShay said he's heard rumors of the Patriots being interested in trading up to 5th overall, so they can select Gholston. I'd rather see NE trade down, and if you ask me, McShay's not really all that reliable either, so who knows.

If accurate, the Raiders should be able to extract a king's ransom for Dorsey.

Wow. This changes everything. Now it might go...

1. JLong
2. CLong
3. Ryan
4. McFadden
5. Dorsey
6. Gholston
7. (trade) Ellis
8. Clady
9. Mendenhall/Harvey
10. Mayo

I think this is real good for us. With the first three confirmed, there is a good chance that Dorsey/Gholston/McFadden will drop to us.

No more of a chance than yesterday. Still need the Chiefs likely to take someone outside of this group. Which to me only happens if Dorsey goes to the Raiders.

Gholston could be the slider?

Rotoworld:
While NFL Network's Mike Mayock suspects the Patriots will try to leapfrog the Jets with the intention of selecting pass rusher Vernon Gholston, other outlets speculate that Gholston could be the draft tumbler.
Gholston would have to fall to No. 5 for the leapfrog scenario to even have a possibility. Several outlets are reporting a draft morning buzz that Gholston could tumble all the way out of the Top 10 because of concerns that he disappears on game film and may be a workout wonder. Todd McShay has been harping on this for weeks. For now, file it all under more post-draft hype.

I've said that I thought he was a risk in the top 10, and seemed like more of a top 12-15 prospect to me, but we'll see, and if he somehow lands on the Patriots roster I'll be perfectly fine with it.

ESPN says the Raiders are leaning heavily towards Darren McFadden... dumbass pick if you ask me, but that's the Raiders. Russell and then McFadden... eek.

Tom Curran's the man!

Assuming today's reports are accurate, let's all give a huge hand to Tom Curran who broke the top 2 five days ago -- only to be greeted by a chorus of "nah, it's all just a Parcells misinformation campaign."

"NBCSports.com's Tom Curran reports the Dolphins are nearing a contract agreement with Michigan OT Jake Long.

The deal would make Long the No. 1 overall pick. The Dolphins began talks with Long's agent, Tom Condon, two weeks ago and never engaged in serious deliberations with any other player. Curran writes that with Long off the board, St. Louis is "a lock" to use the No. 2 pick on a defensive player. UVA DE Chris Long is reportedly "very confident" he'll be the Rams' choice."

If Gholston is there at seven and IF we select him, that I would not have any concerns at all about any disappearing act during games or anything else.

IF we make this pick - than I am certain he will turn out to be an absolute beast - NE never gets it wrong with their #1's - especially one selected this high. Take that to the bank...

I also would not be surprised, if they feel Gholston is indeed that good - to see them trade up to 5 and leapfrog the Jests.

I would be a happy guy to see Gholston knocking opposing QB;s on the ass next year. He be an integral part of our rotation from day one and become that final piece in our "D" that was missed last year - especially after the injury bug hit.

i accurately picked the top 4 picks about 6 months ago.

everyone said i was crazy.

Who's crazy now?

my opinion has been that there is a lot of gamesmanship going on between the Patriots and the Jets. The Patriots are feigning interest in players like McFadden and Gholston IMO to get the Jets to trade up to get a player they would have gotten anyway.

The Pats want Mayo IMO maybe Rivers, but not McFadden. it is very interesting no doubt.
