Re: 2005 Redraft Pats O line in 2 high spots

And, FWIW, the Pats, re-drafting at #32, get LB Barrett Ruud.

Re: 2005 Redraft Pats O line in 2 high spots

How can these guys both be round 1 guys....did they watch the Super Bowl.:D

Note: this is a Sarcastic post for all those who think the oline is awful.

Re: 2005 Redraft Pats O line in 2 high spots

This grading by PRAVDA (espn) is wrong headed. The Pats drafted Mankins (best G in NFL- better than Hutchinson), Kaczur (started his entire rookie season at LT for a playoff team), Hobbs (a very underrated player inside and outside of NE. Better than M. Jackson or K. Hayden), Sanders (starting S), Cassell. That's an "A" draft, not a "B+" draft. And that was with the #32 pick and no 2nd rdr.

Did you say Logan Mankins is better than Steve Hutchinson at Guard?? - You need to be homer slapped and slapped hard for that one.

Hell,Shawn Andrews is better than Mankins right now and Dielman is not too far behind -

Mankins is good but the best in the NFL? - Please get real, - I would put Mankins at #3 or #4 best overall.

Mankins has been the SI all-pro guard for 2 straight seasons, grading better than Hutchinson and Andrews by a wide margin. Hutchinson is overrated by the media due to his huge contract, draft status and Michigan pedigree. If you judge players by on-field performance and not press clippings, Mankins is better than Hutchinson and Andrews (and Dielman? Is that a joke?). But I can see your criteria are different than mine.

Re: 2005 Redraft Pats O line in 2 high spots

Hutchinson and Mankins are about equal in my eyes... when you get that close to perfection, things get blurry.

Re: 2005 Redraft Pats O line in 2 high spots

I can see Mankins rated higher in a re-draft but Kaczur at pick 20? I think that is slightly overrating him...

Either that or the draft that year was just brutal. Which of course it was, by looking at the top-10 picks.

Interesting to put Mankins in 7th spot and Kaczur in the 20s.

A little pat on back for Pats' draft skills.

I always wonder how much of it is good drafting, and how much of it is making the most of whatever they have with great coaching and teaching.

Kaczur has had the benefit of Dante and a coaching staff willing to put him on the field. If he'd been drafted by the Cardinals or the Lions, would he have had as many GS as he's had? If he'd gone to Atlanta as a first round pick, I'll bet anything that he would have been a huge bust.

I'd say the same for players like Asante, Givens, Jarvis... would they have become as highly regarded if they'd been drafted and brought up by any other coaching staff?

Re: Pats Draft in 2005 Rocked with 2 picks evaluated as top 32 talent

Wow!!
In BB + SP we trust

They evaluate Logan mankins as a top 7 talent and Nick Kaczur very highly also....:rocker::rocker::eat1:

Meh. Logan Mankins is decent but Kaczur is definitely not that great. We need to upgrade his position this draft IMO. Although I noticed Justin Tuck on that list...it would have helped if we drafted him.

I think "decent" is a vast understatement of Mankins' play.

IMHO if you check out the replays of when Brady is getting rushed it is usually Kazur who is getting burned. Definitly the weakest link
