After looking at our 08 schedule, we can win all 16 games if we are serious about it. Pats will travel to West coast a lot but it is a good thing because the weather there is nice compared to East coast's one. Besides that, we don't have a lot of challenging opponents in West coast.

Do you agree or disagree.?

I 100%agree

In another thread, I said that the only losses on the schedule that are foreseeable are v.s. San Diego, Seattle, and Buffalo (in the last game of the season). I threw out the Colts because they're going to be coming off a very physical, tough division game the week before. Buffalo is in there because it will be the last game of the season and they're more likely to be in the wild card mix than any other team in our division.

Oh jeez. And so it begins . . . .

I'm puzzled by the "if we're serious" part. Some reason to believe the team's going to half-ass it this year?

Yeah... the history for teams that lost the Super Bowl the year before isn't so good (except for the Seahawks in '06... even then, they were riddled with injuries).

absolutely. Who would expect to see a #1 O team score 14 pts in a SB.? We have a second chance to be the GREATEST team or whatever and we need to do it in this season.

You can say anything about the schedule but i want to see new records and a SB ring in this season because it will make me feel better. I don't want to see any 'loosing' surprise in this season.

Draft and play well.

It's feasible in the sense that it was done last year and this year we could have an easier schedule.

But that it was done only twice (regular season unbeaten) in the fourty-two super bowl seasons says that it's still an enormous longshot.

We haven’t lost in the regular season since December 2006 and are currently holding a 19 game regular season winning streak.

I say we make it 35.

Add also the fact that we had some close calls against Philly, Baltimore, and Giants part one. One bad break (or one fewer lucky break) and we're 15-1 last year. Long shot, and it if it starts happening it may kill me before the season's over...

It almost has to get to 23 before we go to SD. I know it sucks we lost our last game but this is a pretty cool record as regular season records go.

I'm not going to hope for 16-0, but in the very UNLIKELY event that it happens, I hope our level of play is better in December than October. The 2007 season was the only year in the Belichick era that the Pats didn't noticably improve going into the playoffs. Frankly, we peaked too early last year.

 Nooooooooooooooooo. Never again! No more talk of 16--0. Please. The only W that I care about is the one we get in the game that is scheduled to be played on February 1, 2009 in Tampa Bay. Otherwise, I don't care if we go 9--7 and earn the final Wild Card berth on the last play of the last game on the last day of the Season.

Honestly, I'm with you. Questions of how this team will react to the SB loss are absurd. They effectively lost the real Super Bowl in 06 when the Colts knocked them off, and that was in arguably as heartbreaking and or demoralizing fashion as the Super Bowl itself. They came back and almost ran the table.

This schedule is brutally easy on paper, and this team is still historically good, and I imagine with an offseason, can become even more efficient on offense. I'm open to the possibility for 16-0 until another team comes and proves otherwise. I know we all believe ANY GIVEN SUNDAY, and yes, it proved itself in the Super Bowl, but on paper, this team is still dramatically better than all of its opponents except San Diego and Indy. Those two teams and NE make up the NFL's elite.

The mere fact that I am considering this possibility is a testament to what an amazing achievement this team had in 07, regardless of what went down in the SB. Years prior, I would've laughed and mocked at a person who suggested 16-0.

i agree with you here. last year i wanted to go 19-0 so badly but when the pats came up short in the super bowl i felt like the whole season was ruined. obviously, i would have preferred to go 18-1 with the one loss coming in the regular season but '07 was still an amazing year and amazing achievement. however, in my eyes a season is a failure unless you win the super bowl.

You felt like the season was ruined... because the season WAS ruined.

Dr. Phil's job is so easy.

I agree... but How about Superbowl 43 win instead.

The question I'd like answered by those of you who think they have a shot at going 16-0 is this; explain how they are going to pull this off with a defense that lost Samuel and Colvin and has two starting linebackers and a starting safety on the back nine of their careers?

Granted, the draft may solve some of the current problems or the rumor of Sheppard coming here may happen, but I don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling over this defense and if the Giants proved anything last year, it's offense wins games, but defense wins championships. You can score all the points you want in the regular season, but the playoffs are a much different animal and the last time we had a killer D around here was 2004................

I think we can patch things up through the draft (or Sheppard) to make another run at a Super Bowl with a good offense and good enough defense. But I don't see any way of us repeating 16-0 again mostly because we, as a team, go into this season with a huge bullseye on our chests.

Hmm, I'm sure the 2006 Bears would like to believe this.

I think that quote is based on the assumption that the offense doesn't DETRACT... with the 2006 Bears, you could have had the 85 Bears D and they wouldn't have won the Super Bowl
