With the schedules being released today one of the topics on NFL Live was - Will Patriots repeat 16-0 regular season?

Cris Carter
"I would not be surprised at all. I believe it's easier to bounce back now than if they had won it. The schedule is mapped out for them and their big time games are spread out over the course of the season."

Ron Jaworski
"I think there is a very good chance they can go undefeated."

Wanted to get the undefeated/ESPN talk off to a quick start because I know how much you guys love it.

Meh I just want a damn Superbowl. 19-0 would be nice but I'd prefer not to watch another horror show when the Pats had the perfect season in their grasp and failed to close out the game.

Way too early to tell imo. Those guys usually throw stuff out there early and hope something sticks by end of the season.

I love the vote of confidence from Jaws - one ESPN analyst whom I actually respect - but it ain't gonna happen. Too much can go wrong - like what happened in the Super Bowl.

It was bad enough last year when it started after Week 2. Now it's before the draft . . .

Sure it's possible but dear God let's not fall onto that sinking ship again! Lot's of travel plans in the Pats schedule this year and I'm just crossing my fingers that we don't have some tired legs by the time January comes around.

Now just wait for the elite #7 and a the draft day deal for Pacman Jones.

The schedule this year on paper is easier save the two back-to-back west coast games. But look at last year:

We were pretty healthy all year except for Colvin, which obviously didn't derail 16-0. Everyone else of note played every game (Offense, Vince, AD, Asante). Yes Seymour and Rodney missed a few at the beginning.

But we had San Diego at the ideal time in the schedule (this year on the road), early on when they were still working in a new coach and were playing very poorly. Several teams we played last year were worse than we expected (ie Baltimore, Jets, Miami, Cincinnati).

Last year we had the ideal bye week late in the year and right after the emotional Colts game. This year the bye is quite early.

Last year we played 3 of the last 4 at home with the road game in NY. This year 4 of the last 6 are on the road and two of those are on the left coast.

I'd be shocked if we went 16-0 last year, despite that we are still the AFC and Super Bowl favorite.

Id love to do it but I dont think I can put up with all that talk for another season, though I do not wishfully to lose a game, if we lost one to a non rival like maybe Oakland (not that I want to) it could end the undefeated talk distraction without really sacerficing our seeding.

That being said, The Pats should win 12-13 games for there offense alone, but no one can really say at this point in the off season the Pats are better on defense then they were last year and unless they improve then I dont expect them to win the SB, but suffer another devistating loss in a championship game.

Please God, no. I actually hope the Pats lose in one of the opening weeks so we can finally shell all of this undefeated talk from ESPN and sports analysts alike. Just let us have one or two losses in the regular season and a Super Bowl and I'll be happy.

Things I like about the schedule...

2007 Playoff Team Games (4)
Chargers (Week 6)
Colts (3 Weeks Later)
Steelers (4 Weeks Later)
Seahawks (Following Week)

Excluding the Steelers/Seahawks in back-to-back weeks, 3/4 games against 2007 playoff teams are quite spread out from eachother.

Also two of those teams will be coming off very hard matchups before playing us.

Colts
@ Titans (Monday Night Football - Short Week)

Seahawks
@ Dallas Cowboys (Thanksgiving Day)

If we are 13-0 after Week 14 - the final 3 games consist of the Raiders, Cardinals and Bills.

Of course two of these – including the finale - are on the road and we haven’t seen the 2008 versions of these teams yet – but these don’t evoke any stress in me whatsoever at the moment.

Its obvious because the Patriots will cheat to win all the way to the top.

IF! They come anywhere close to going undefeated again. This team will have so much hate towards them it will be a non stop media fest.

You know what, I've seen the Patriots win 3 SB's but I've never seen them go undefeated. I want them to go 19-0 just so every little POS who hated on the Patriots in '07 can choke on it. I don't talk junk to fans of other teams, but I had to deal with my friends being idiots this year and complaining endlessly about how the Patriots suck and cheat. One of my friends actually had the nerve to tell me Brady is classless when he roots for the Packers who have IMO one of the most classless quarterbacks in Brett Favre. Most of all I want them to go undefeated so we never have to deal with the 1972 Dolphins ever again.

Yeah, but we have to call them when we're on their block though. Not in their neighborhood, not in their town. Mercury Morris should just ingest a lot of his first name and spare us the grandfather quotes.

If they were to lose in one fo the first 3 weeks, I would be pretty dissapointed. That would mean they lost to one of 3 of the worst teams in the league (Chiefs, Jests, Fins).

I, personally, want them to go 19-0. But I do understand your point.

I think that way too early.. 13-3 is more realistic..

I would love to see it happen but considering an undefeated regular season happens about once every thirty or forty years in the NFL, I think it may be unrealistic to expect the Pats to go 19-0.

Well the schedule is set up pretty well for it. There are only really 5 traditionally tough games: Chargers, Broncos, Colts, Steelers, Seahawks. The Broncos follow the Chargers, but it's a home game. The Seahawks do follow the Steelers and it's an away game, but I'm not sure how much of a game the Steelers will be able to give this team to wear New England down. The Colts are going to be coming off a physical battle against the Titans while the Patriots will be coming off a game against a soft team in the Rams.

It's too early to even know what the Patriots lineup will be, but I don't think the schedule is one that would prevent 14 or more wins, and I don't think 16 is out of the question just based upon the schedule.
