Cousins,
This was three rounder was done with a little trade intrigue including the four three round comps. Wouldn't mind the results. Fire away! Three parts

ROUND 1

Pick # Overall Team Player Pos. School
1 1 Miami Jake Long, OT, Michigan. The chicken pick. Bill you do not have a QB! The Phins would have had Quinn, at least something to work with this year if not for stupid. You will make mistake #2 in two years passing Ryan. Look down the road in NCAA the next two classes. There are no QB’s of this talent…… Bill, all this $ for a RT?
2 2 St. Louis Chris Long, DE/OLB, Virginia. It works here. They have flexibility with Carriker. Starting to be a nice young D line. The Rams need an outside pass rusher
3 3 Atlanta Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College. Arthur Blank wants Ryan. The staff would like to go either line. Eventually they need a CB but have a luxury of many picks. They have no QB, the same as the Phins but I believe the Falcons are going to be smarter. It has been said they are a team with many holes. Can this kid survive on a weak Falcon team? Look at BC. They were NOT an elite team and Ryan made the difference. This tough guy makes everyone better around him and I have a reason that will follow him to Atlanta. Dimitroff was smart enough to know the Chiefs and Jets sought Ryan and he is the real deal. They’ll go for OL and DL help real soon…Watch!
4 4 Dallas from Oakland -TRADE FOR #22 and #28 in Round one and 2009 Round three. Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas. Jerry gets his man and he did not have to give away Barber III. Oakland can’t be fixed in one year as Al knows.
5 5 Kansas City Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State. The O-line was pitiful. 2nd best O-lineman in the draft and maybe a real LT unlike Long. Let’s start here. K.C. can’t be fixed in one year either , as Herm and Carl know. Herm and Carl wanted Ryan. Decent pick though.
6 6 NY Jets Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State. Consolation prize? This kid is a stud. He can be the Merriman for the Jets and a face for the defense. He can’t hurt, right? A Ha Ha on the Pats perhaps?
7 7 Atlanta from New England (from San Francisco) TRADE FOR Round two #34 and #37, Round four #103 and 2009 Round three.-
Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU. Typical N.E move but the Falcons get perhaps the best player in the draft plus their QB in round one. Blank and the coaches are both happy. Two good players. Falcons still have many draft choices.
8 8 Baltimore Branden Albert, G/T, Virginia. Geez Wilcox and Marshall, they wanted Ryan also, would have taken Long (either) and wind up with Ogdens’ replacement. Not bad.
9 9 Cincinnati Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC. Any line help was needed. Surprised he dropped this far.
10 10 New Orleans Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy State. Wanted Ellis but they need a CB desperately as well. Also helps the KR game.
11 11 Buffalo Limas Sweed, WR, Texas. Most of the Bills WR are midgets. Great compliment to Lee Evans with Sweed. Nice target for Trent.
12 12 Denver Chris Williams, OT, Vanderbilt. Grab these OT’s when you can. Athletic Williams fits the Broncos zone scheme.
13 13 Carolina Kenny Phillips, FS, Miami. They wanted an OT. But they will wait. S is a need and Phillips will play right away.
14 14 Chicago Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois. This is the kid they wanted and local too.
15 15 Detroit Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB Al.St.. Good choice here and not a WR. A need, but let’s hope Millen doesn’t screw this up.
16 16 Arizona Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson. This kid has been dinged. When healthy he is as good as most in this class. The Cards need a pass rush.
17 17 Minnesota Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida. They need DE help. He is the best choice here. Hopefully some added pass rush.
18 18 Houston Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon. Under 4.5 with 235 lbs. The cowbell runner they need.
19 19 Philadelphia James Hardy, WR, Indiana. Finally a speedy big receiver for Donavan. This may be the desired playmaker that McNabb talked about.
20 20 Tampa Bay Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina. They find a good steady DT with a lot of upside.
21 21 Washington Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College. They need a safety but a RT is a good choice here.
22 22 Oakland (from Dallas) (from Cleveland)
Pat Sims, DT, Auburn. They need a replacement for Saap. They need quite a bit.
23 23 Pittsburgh Dan Connor, ILB/OLB, Penn State. Local kid and another LB is a need. Smart Steeler type. No offensive guard worth taking here.
24 24 Tennessee Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma. Think he has faster playing speed. With Crumpler and Kelly, Young has options.
25 25 Seattle Fred Davis, TE, USC. Best rated TE in the draft by some. He’s ok. About where he should be drafted. A definite first day starter for the Hawks.
26 26 Jacksonville Quentin Groves, DE/OLB, Auburn. A little light for a Jacksonville DE but you can’t teach speed.
27 27 N.E. (from San Diego) –TRADE FOR #34 in Round two (from Falcons) and #94 in Round three.-
Keith Rivers, OLB, USC. The Pats work back to the first round. They gambled but get their man in Rivers and they wind up with another top pick in 2009. Incredible! S.O.P. The Chargers want extra draft choices and moving 6 down for an extra one works here. The Chargers don’t need much anyway.
28 28 Oakland (from Dallas)- Jeff Otah, OT, Pittsburgh. A steal here. Oakland does a great job getting two potential starts this round for McFadden. Not spectacular but solid.
29 29 San Francisco(from Indianapolis) - Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida. A sure top fifteen choice lands here to the Niners.
30 30 Green Bay Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas. CB is a need a Mr. Weed fills the bill. Can you even buy pot in Wisconsin?
31 31 NY Giants Jerod Mayo, ILB, Tennessee. A very smart LB who can play in or out and has some coverage skills. Can replace Mitchell in year one. Was rated much higher lately.

ROUND 2

1 32 Miami Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State-Too bad they don’t have a QB. They made their bed in Round one.
2 33 St. Louis Anthony Collins, OT, Kansas-Help for Bulger. Solid draft so far.
3 34 San Diego (from NE)( from Atlanta) (from Oakland)-
Carl Nicks, OT, Nebraska. More OL depth.
4 35 Kansas City Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville-You are not fooling us Herm.
5 36 NY Jets Joe Flacco, QB, Delaware- #$#&*+*! $ Chiefs. The Jets have two noodle arms for Flacco to beat. The Jets with a QB named Joe?
6 37 NE (from Atlanta) Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona. Smart ball-hawking CB. Wow the Pats got CB healthy quick!
7 38 Baltimore Chad Henne, QB, Michigan. Could be worse. He could be the Big Ben type for the Ravens.
8 39 San Francisco DeSean Jackson, WR/PR, California. Martz will have fun passing with this kid in the slot.
9 40 New Orleans Dre Moore, DT, Maryland, Talented young DT. He should play with consistency.
10 41 Buffalo Martellus Bennett, TE, TexasA&M. This could be another great weapon along with Sweed for Trent. He is "Gatesque" in round ball background and ability.
11 42 Denver Earl Bennett, WR, Vanderbilt. A security blanket for Cutler and he is overjoyed. Take that #15!
12 43 Carolina Early Doucet, WR, LSU good compliment to Smith and Moose. Closest to pro ready of the WR class.
13 44 Chicago Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan. You can buy pot in Chicago. Good talent. Good luck Lovie.
14 45 Detroit Jamaal Charles, RB, Texas. A must to add to the running back corp. This kid could start.
15 46 Cincinnati Erin Henderson, OLB/ILB, Maryland. The Bengals defense is getting better. Henderson will help.
16 47 Minnesota Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech. Winfield was hurt last year. He could be trade bate. They need a talented CB.
17 48 Atlanta (from Houston) Charles Godfrey, CB, Iowa. Can play CB or FS Fast and big. Replaces Hall. Rising up the boards.
18 49 Philadelphia Duane Brown, OT, Virginia Tech. With the sack happy Giants in their division, strong tackle play is needed. Brown is on the upswing.
19 50 Arizona Patrick Lee, CB, Auburn. Good size talented CB. Moving up the boards and a bigger CB than most.
20 51 Washington DaJuan Morgan, FS, N.C. State. A good replacement with a lot of upside for the very untimely situation of Sean Taylor RIP.
21 52 Tampa Bay Mike Pollak, C, Arizona State. The best inside OL player in this class. Center is a need. A little high but a need.
22 53 Pittsburgh Kevin Smith, RB, Central Florida. His statistics were huge. Good compliment to Fast Willie Parker but at 211lbs and a between the tackle guy.
23 54 Tennessee Roy Schuening, G, Oregon State. A shot of youth and depth for the Titans.
24 55 Seattle Sam Baker, OT, USC. The goal to rebuild the fragile Seattle OL continues. Baker was a pre-season 1st round candidate. He joins his teammate.
25 56 Cleveland Ahtyba Rubin, DT, Iowa State. The middle of the Browns D-line needs help badly. This kid is going to get better.
26 57 Miami (from San Diego) Curtis Lofton, ILB, Oklahoma. With Thomas gone fresh blood is needed for the Dolphins 3-4. This kid is good.
27 58 Jacksonville Tom Zbikowski, SS, Notre Dame. His times justify the pick here. Team him with Nelson and you have the best pair of young safeties in the league.
28 59 Indianapolis Chris Johnson, RB, East Carolina. The fastest guy in the draft and a change of pace runner with Adai. How’s this Peyton? This would be scary.
29 60 Green Bay Cliff Avril, LB/DE, Purdue. A very good defense gets better. The speedy Avril will play OLB.
30 61 Dallas Tracy Porter, CB, Indiana . Super fast. He joins a great defense and he has all the talent in the world.
31 62 New England Josh Barrett, SS, Arizona State. Josh is the heir to the thrown for Harrison . He’s got 4.40 speed, weighs 225lbs and can hit. Great Jr. year and a bad Sr. year.
32 63 NY Giants Reggie Smith, CB/S, Oklahoma. This is luckier than the helmet catch.

If Felix Jones lasts until round 3, there's no way I'm giving up that pick for a bust like Bobby Carpenter. I'd rather pick up the speedy RB from Arkansas. Much better value there.

I also don't like trading out of the #7 pick and only picking up a 2 seconds and a future 3rd round pick. That's not fair value.

The only pick I like in your draft is Cason in round 2...

Thats two seconds and a fourth this year and a third next year from Atlanta.

I kinda have to agree with those who don't like this very much; I just can't get enthused over the idea of trading 7 for the equivalent of two sevenths and two fourths.

I had them swapping their number 7 for two high value second rounders #34 and #27 and a top fourth rounder #104 plus a third rounder in 2009. I don't understand two fourths and two sevenths. Sorry for the confusion.

One word: AWFUL

Why would the Patriots make that trade? That is just dumb. I know alot of work went into this, but it makes no sense.

Sorry, I meant "two seconds and two fourths."

The point I was trying to make is that a third-round pick in the next draft is considered roughly equal to a fourth-round pick in the present draft--you're getting a higher pick, but you have to wait a year to use it.
