Fernando, good.

Hobson, good.

Re-signings, good.

Takeo + Lito, hopefully good.

Pacman, waka waka waka where will you go?

Draft, good (?).

Hey, who's up for another debate about the ticket price hike?? Not me.

Is it too early to book my flight to Tampa Bay?

I just saw a Chinese kid rollerblade by me wearing a Rex Grossman jersey. Uh?

Would like to see Spikes, not as sure about Sheperd as do not know his game as well..

Betcha Matt Walsh will rear his ugly head about the Thurs before the draft.. another distraction.

Re: Fernando. What does it say when we're ecstatic a Detroit Lions cast-off? Were we this excited about Duane Starks? Gus Scott?

Re: Matt Walsh. After Don Roberto (and his consigliere Billy Smiles) gave the kiss of peace in front of all the capos, I don't think that Mr Walsh is an issue. Most of the owners know that trying to take down the most powerful family in the NFL is bad for business. ESPN and the rest will get into line before next season. Matt Walsh is no canary and he's not going to sing on a stand for Senator "Kefauver" Specter.

hobson is a 2nd round pick and starter, bryant a first round pick and starter, webster a 2nd round pick and starter, all really good qaulity pickups for the value, vet. min, deals godd job beoli

I like Bryant. As was said in Patriot Reign, just because a player doesn't work out in another system doesn't mean he won't work out in the Patriots system.

This is weird, and maybe local to New Bedford. It isn't an affront to actual Steeler fans.
I never thought twice of the Cordell Stewart fans at the bus station. (#10 might be someone else now, but I digress..)

Then I saw Gangland on History channel. Black and gold are "colors" of the Latin Kings. (I assume #10 is of local significance.)

Like I said, not actual fans. Heck, most would probably not know the Steelers play football.

How can you say goodjob when they havent even taking a snap yet?

Is the title of the thread a reference to an expectation to get back to the SB? Aren't there a few other obstacles in the way, ohh, like the 16 games of the regular season and playoffs? A lot can happen between now and then......

Don't know much about Hobson/Bryant (other than there was little non-Pats interest in them), but as a Bills fan, I do know something about Webster. I'll tell you what Atlanta fans told us last year--he's decent (and just that, not much more) IF he can stay healthy. For us and the Falcons, he couldn't stay on the field. After a mediocre pre-season, he went out the first game of the year on IR. He'll also be 31 years old or so. I think you'd be much better off making a deal for Lito at the CB spot, even if you have to give up a 2.

As for Spikes, I wouldn't pin much hope on him. I loved the guy to death when he was a Bill and before his injury (even after, as the guy's attitude is great), but he was never the same after that torn ACL. I saw enough of the Eagles last year to see that he was a step slower and still a bit tentative and that step is key for a LB. He was two years out from his injury as well at that time. If you get him cheap, then go for it, but I wouldn't try to get him at all costs--he's also 31, I believe, so again, if you're trying to get younger, a rookie like Rivers is a better bet (or you should have gone after someone like Pace).

Because if if they all are total failures we haven't risked much. also, we go into the draft with some vets who can start or provide depth so we limit our risk there.

This is simply what smart teams do.

When teams make a big splash in FA and the draft on 3-4 very high priced players, while neglecting smart affordable vets, one failure might ruin a season, 2 or 3 might set the program back for years with tons of dead money on the cap.

i see you're new to the board, but we pretty well covered this territory after PJ posted his first, similarly titled thread a few weeks back. To cut to the chase, there are some folks out here who will only be satisfied with a redemptive return to the SB (as a Bills fan, you can surely understand that :)), others want to take it one week at a time. Chill.

Thanks for summing it up better than I could have.

I am excited about many (many!) things before the next SB. But for me, I won't be completely satisfied until the Tamp Bay Redemption. That said, of course I'm psyched for the draft, training camp, opening day, etc.!

You're one upping Thomas144 from Pats Planet.

His looking past the next opponent threads were legendary. You're looking past a season's worth.:D

Don't get me wrong. They all terrify me.

I'm not presuming any wins. I just won't be truly happy until the boys win in Tampa Bay.
