this one is the best. :D

Trades:
- Pats trade #7 to Carolina who go after Ryan, we get #13 and #43 in round 2.
- Pats trade #62 in round 2 and #69 in round 3 (the high oakland pick) to Atlanta for one of their THREE second rounders, #37. This pick is nice and high in round 2.

Round 1 #13 (f/CAR) - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie CB Tennessee St.

- if gone Mike Jenkins, if hes gone Leodis McKelvin. One will be there.

Round 2 #37 (f/ATL) - Jerod Mayo ILB Tennessee

- stud linebacker

Round 2 #43 (f/CAR) - Chris Johnson RB/KR East Carolina

- stud kick returner, future Faulk replacement.

Round 3 #95 - Dexter Jackson WR Appalachian St.

- Welker II

Round 4 #129 - Kellen Davis TE Michigan St.

- Blocking TE

BRiz you and I are on the same page with Ro-Cro, I know alot of others here aren't but we are. How's this for Karma, did you get your Patriots Football Weekly issue yet ? The front cover has an "Election Theme" and low and behold, look to your right and there is DRC on a voting ballet. The man himself, Dominique, looking as svelt, smooth and athletic as ever. Word on the street is that the Jets are in love with Cromartie and are looking to make the exact same trade down as we are to snag him, so we'll have to see how that plays out.

Few things with your new mock:

You mention one of three corners being there at 13 and I can tell you right now, 2 of those 3 corners have NO shot at being there at #13, Cro and McKelvin will be long gone and hard to find at that point, so I would simply revise that to Mike Jenkins.

The trade up in R2, I do like, but I have a feeling that Mayo will go at the bottom of R1 (he's climbing draft boards - silly-like) and you would have to settle for a Curtis Lofton at #37 (which isn't chicken feed) and which I would still be in favor of btw.

The remaining 3 picks, I love, yet I think you've got DJackson a tad high, but you're right, he is Wes 2 - and he might be worth reaching for at that point.

Mayo will never be there at #37. He could be a top 20 pick now.

I like the trades, but if we're picking at those spots I'd rather go for Groves at 13 and somebody like Cason or Flowers (that group of cornerbacks) at 37.

I realize Cromartie, Mckelvin, and Jenkins have chances to be damn good cornerbacks, but its hard to justify taking one in the first when there are many very good cornerbacks that will still be available in later rounds.

You know, I really like this draft. NOT what I would have come up with myself, but good players at good value (Mayo maybe a little unrealistically good). The one thing that makes me queasy is no pass rusher.

I think if he'd have put Clint Avril in for Mayo everyone would be fairly happy. More realistic and you get your pass rusher.

only because Detroit likes him but that would be a major reach at that spot imo. I see Mayo in the same catagory as Cason, Groves ect, guys that could easily go in the bottom of round 1 but could very well go at the top of round 2 as well. Wouldnt say he deffinitly wouldnt be there.

OMG if the Jets took him on us that would be evil! Dont say that. :)

Im afraid to trade down cuz DRC could be gone, but that extra 2nd is so juicy. Really i wouldnt mind Jenkins but the guy to take is deffinitly Cromartie. Lofton would be pretty good if we couldnt get Mayo, even Groves may slip to the top of round 2 and he would be worth it.

Mayo is definitly going in the first round the way his stock has been rising.

Why do we need Welker II? Welker I isn't good enough? ;)

As for TE, I like Kellen Davis's versatility but if we are looking for a blocking TE i'd rather go with Craig Stevens or Martellus Bennett who are better blockers and could fill Brady's shoes right away.

The evaulation of this mock depends on how high up our list of needs is pass rusher. On my list, it's pretty high up there (along with CB and ILB, and to a lesser extent an OL). This does not address that, but does use two top picks on WR and RB. At best one of those guys will return kicks this year, and maybe see spot duty if there is an injury. That's excessive IMO. There's no way 3 of the top 5 picks can be on offense.

I really like this draft, if things could happen just like this, I'd be thrilled. A few thoughts, though I like DRC, for some odd reason, I have a feeling Mike Jenkins is going to wind up the better CB. It's not about actual data, or what I've seen, it's just a feeling, usually I'm wrong, but sometimes I'm right (I really wanted the Pats to draft Brian Westbrook back in 2003). Speaking of Westbrook, I have that same feeling about Chris Johnson, I love that pick. I think he can be a great multi-faceted weapon (he has played WR), I would be thrilled if we wind up with him. I like Mayo as well, but like others said, he may not be there. I like the Dexter Jackson pick, and like the Kellen Davis pick, though I don't know enough about him (better blocker than receiver ?). Good job !!

I like the trades, they seem very plausible, especially if Ryan is there at #7.
