After reading up on it WPW Syndrome it doesn't sound that problimatic after simple surgery.which is knon as

This type of surgery is done all the time,and once the area in question is ablated it (from what I've seen,and studied way back when) the problem Can't come back. The simplest analogy would be if you had a rock in your shoe, once you take the rock out it doesn't bother you anymore. ..its gone.

Well my total knowledge about this is a big fat zero, if that's the case then I feel better for Groves. I guess we'll see how it affects his draft status...

The only thing I can think of is scar tissue. Since cardiac muscle moves in a wave across the heart enough scar tissue could disrupt the electical impulse. And in some cases for example (heavy cocain use) which leaves scar tissue ,they can have cardio conduction problems. But I think in Groves case the amount is so small its probably not going to be a problem

His stock may drop, but won't affect the way he plays on the field. He will probably have to wear a protective vest over his chest like Ronny Turiaf of the Lakers. Would still love to have him on the Pats.

I believe this is the same surgery Mark DeRosa had, correct? He missed one week of spring training after the surgery, and was perfectly fine. I believe they use radio waves to burn away the affected area, and you're correct about the catheter, as well.

The condition (basically a short circuit) can be treated with medication and massage of the carotid artery, but this surgery has the best result, as the problem generally doesn't resurface after this procedure.

I don't know of DeRosa. Its not really heart surgery thats a misnomer,its a "heart procedure" what was called day stay. You go in hey run a catheter Maybe through the Axillary artery to the heart and use a probe to literally burn away the affected area using( in my time ) electricity. Now it could be high frequency radio waves. I.E. microwave the area. Once its done theres nothing left to cause a problem except maybe some scar tissue. But think of this just getting a real bad cold can cause scaring of cardiac muscle, at least that was what I was taught.
