Didn't notice anyone talk about this yet so decided to post what I read.

Patriots | Team reportedly has K. Brown rated higher than other teams

Josh Buchanan, of NFLDraftBible.com, reports the New England Patriots reportedly have Appalachian State OG Kerry Brown rated higher than any other team in the NFL. The Patriots could consider Brown with their fifth-round pick.

Assuming that other teams have him 6th-7th, and the Steelers have him rated free agent. Don't know much about this guy, but just thought someone can get a scouting report so we can clerify why the Pats are rumored to have so much interest in him.

Up to now, he's been most notable as being Mr. Irrelevant in the UH seven round draft.

It's true that most of the NFL's starting offensive linemen are non-first round picks. Brown obviously has enough physical ability to even be considered as an NFL prospect, but more importantly, seems to have the intangibles as a Pats prospect. Reportedly, has a great work ethic, high character, four-year starter, versatile (OG and OT), impressive Pro Day, impressive performances vs Michigan and LSU, correct hair color.

Anyone fortunate enough to see the upset of Michigan knows he more than impressed with his physical skills vs. the larger school. In terms of his intangibles, read on:

Scott Wright profile

Strengths:
Has excellent size and a huge frame...Real tough and physical...Plays with a nasty demeanor and has a killer instinct...Very strong and powerful..Is relatively athletic with good mobility..Quick and agile...Stout at the point of attack...Can pull and get to the second level...Has a great motor...Nice awareness....Has lots of experience.

01/30/08 - Texas vs. The Nation - Nation Wednesday Practice: Really likes to play through the whistle. Even in one-on-one's, he would continue to pound his guy after the first, second, and third efforts.

As a developmental prospect -- he fits the Pats profile. Draft him earlier than he's ranked, so we don't lose him. In addition, draft his teammate WR/KR Dexter Jackson too, so they don't get lonely.

It's funny, I had just added Brown to my check-out-further list for one sole reason: his 29.5" vertical. BB/SP always seem to go for the OLs with the big vertical numbers (Mankins was 31.5"!)

And let's not forget the potential to be a monster at the beard position. :D

WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME HE HAD AN UGLY RED BEARD???

That's it, I'm revising my pick-8 predictions! :D
