Since that was BB's first year, I'm guessing that was compensation for signing him as HC away from the NYJs.

Correct!!!!

The Jets traded it away to 49ers!!!

Really? I thought that was the year they drafted Shaun Ellis and John Abraham like back to back with their pick and our pick.

They still did. They drafted those two with 12 and 13, traded away the Pats' 16, drafted Pennington with 18, and Becht with 27.

First time a team has had 4 first round picks.

And it's amazing how little they ultimately benefited from it. :)

They invented this thing called the internet:

Tell me more about this internet thingy. How big is it and if I bought one is it easy to set up in my livingroom? I do have space to put it in between my eight track tape player and my Betamax so I am golden. I try to stay up with the latest technology. So maybe I should go out and buy one of those internets. I was saving up to buy this hot new product called the CD player, but that internet sounds better.

By "they", you mean Al Gore right?

FTR, that was a media lie. What he ACTUALLY said is, "I took the initiative in creating the internet," which is absolutely true. It had been a military communications system and Gore was the primary guy pushing the expansion of the internet as a mass communication tool.

Things like that - major or minor - can't get off the ground without someone at the Federal level taking the bull by the horns, pushing the agenda and, most important, FUNDING IT. Gore did all of that. He also spoke out, to much national ridicule at the time, against this CRAAAAAZY hoax called "Global Warming."

I realize it's become part of the national lexicon, but it can't hurt to occasionally cut through the stupid with, ya know, actual FACT.

You're welcome.
