As per Rotoworld

There are reportedly rumors that former Patriots OLB Rosevelt Colvin's 2007 season ended due to a ruptured Achilles' tendon.

No wonder he hasn't gotten any play on the open market. Colvin, 30, may have to settle for a minimum-type deal to find a taker. His injury happened in late November, so if it's an Achilles, there's little chance he's healthy yet.

Vet Minimum? Yes, please.

That's a shame, he's been one of my favorites other than the occassional personal foul he'd get. I'd love to get him back if there's some chance of him being 100% sometime in the 2008 season.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Colvin has been one of the reasons for our success in three Super Bowls.

What is a ruptured achilles? Pretty serious I presume?

No, there is no such report.

Apparently, there isn't even a rumor. There have been reports of a rumor. Wow!! Reports of a rumor, that's a good one.

Actually. Until there is an actual rumor (not a reported one) of an actual report from a source (hopefully authorized or at least verifiable).

The word actually should not appear at all in this blurb.

It could be true but apparently the author's aren't willing to back it up.

If I were Colvin I would sit 2008 out and come back fully healed and ready to go in 2009.

That injury could definately recur if not fully healed before the season,I think its better he take a year off.

If i was him i'd just retire since i'm a millionaire.

It would be nice to do nothing

I am surprised by this, I thought we heard rumors that he could've been back in time for the Super Bowl had he not been put on IR, that it wasn't that serious. Anyone else remember hearing that? Though this does back up why he's had ZERO interest from anyone.

Since he only played in one of them I really don't see how that's true.

Isn't that what you are already doing Keegs? ;)
i'd prefer doing nothing all the time.

I'd like to be rich, do nothing, then go on vacation when doing nothing gets boring and go do nothing there.

Then when vacation gets boring, i'd come back home and do more nothing. Then repeat.

SORRY, NOT TRYING TO DERAIL THE THREAD.

I hope there is some way Rosie comes back.. he makes big plays, i like him.
His play against San Diego last year in the playoffs was awesome, and this year in Indy, that was sweet too.

Isn't this the same injury Dan Marino had? He seemed to play well the next year.

Being in the NFL is hard but I didn't like retiring from playing pickup b-ball because I got too old. It's fun playing on a team. Guys who retire miss the game even if they don't miss training camp.

Plenty of time to retire in your late 30s and tour the world.

Isnt this what happened to Takeo Spikes? He was never the same player after his injury.

I never really understood why Colvin was put on the IR, he was standing around talking with the trainers after he went down and didnt seem to be in much pain. That makes me think that this report is false as I'm pretty sure a ruptured achilles is not something you can shrug off like that.

I keep saying it and as time and rumors continue it seems like he was just saying the stock answer.

But I rant into Colvin's father at the SB and he said Colvin had a slight fracture and was already out of the boot.

Maybe if you reposted this as a rumor you heard rather than a direct quote it would have more cred.

When he last talked to the guys on WEEI, Rosie said he did not need to have surgery. That is almost never the case with ruptured achilles, particularly for pro athletes.

Someone else posted here recently that he had spoken to Rosie and he indicated he was talking to a couple of teams including the Steelers as I recall. He also made it pretty clear he would not be coming back, as he has to his friends in the media, let alone for veteran minimum. But that's just what he says...

It sucks if that is the case. I would be weary about bringing him back though. If healthy he could definitely help, but if not maybe we can go a different direction.

One thing though. Did he get an injury settlement? If he did, I don't know if we can bring him back even if we want to. I know from what we did with Larry Centers several years back that if you give a players an injury settlement in season, you cannot resign him until after week 10 (I think that is the round). I don't know if that rule applies if you do the same thing prior to the season starting. If so, we will not be resigning Colvin. That might have been why when he was quoted after being cut that his tenure with the Patriots was definitely over.

Rosey won't play at all this upcoming year, I'm guessing.

Broken bones in a foot and a ruptured achillies are notorious for being hard to 100% recover from so both will have coaches thinking about them either way...
