Michael Vick playing prison football
Sunday, April 6th 2008, 12:16 AM
Gary Myers

Michael Vick has a new job and is playing football again. The money is not quite the same and the records of the players are a bit different, too.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank has been communicating by letter with Vick, who is at the United States Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., incarcerated at the facility's minimum security satellite prison camp.

Blank told the Daily News that Vick writes that he is washing pots and pans for 12 cents an hour. He was sentenced to 23 months in December after pleading guilty to federal dogfighting charges.

And in a scene straight out of the Longest Yard, Blank says Vick is playing football at Leavenworth. That's one way to pass his time and keep his arm loose. He's likely the first player picked when the inmates are choosing up sides or the guards are choosing up sides for them. Vick's sprinter speed surely comes in handy just in case a dog-loving inmate thinks it's cool to sack an NFL quarterback and break his shoulder.

"He is staying in shape,” Blank told The News. "Apparently, there was a prison football team and he played quarterback for both sides.”

That's only fair.

...

Glad to hear he's at least making the most of his time inside. Gives me some hope that maybe there's a chance for him to salvage his life and career. Everyone deserves a second chance.

almost sounds like a movie...

In 4 years you'll probably see a movie about it starring Jamie Fox, that paints Vick as the good guy, who went to jail because he wouldn't rat on his guilty friends. While in prison (it'll be a super max in the movie) he recaptures his love for football, finds god, and makes peace with those who've "wronged" him....

I'm now convinced that "The Onion" is our most accurate news predictor.

It takes him three hours of washing pots/pans just to be able to buy a 30 cent pack of gum. I might have to do a crime so I can go to jail and get a job scrubbing pots, because it looks like that is where the money is at;)

I am sure the team he is quarterbacking is not nicknamed the dogs or pitbulls.

Somebody should start a thread about an All Prison team

I didn't realize the Bengals had a farm team.

Vick avoids the rush and scrambles out of the pocket! #53 Blank tried his best - but just couldn't stop him!

By gawd! A leaping dive over the safety – he’s on the grasp of the endzone now!

INTERCEPTED! The game is over, the Falcons lose for the next decade.

LMFAO, disco please stop, my family might think im becoming hysterical

Lets not make too many jokes about Vick here. After all, Moss spent 90 days in jail when he was 19 years old.

I was not a vick fan before this crap, even less of a fan of it now.. Im sure if pac man will get a second chance, Vick will too as well.. Not that I want to see him in the leauge, I think he needs to earn it..

It was Reported that Vick has gone from making 14 Million a year to now making 12 CENTS AN HOUR scrubbing pots in the kitchen of the prison.

That in fact is 100% true and is NOT a joke.

My how things change when you do the wrong things.....

Apparently Vick is still playing poor, sweet Uncle Arthur for a fool... They only play a limited schedule of games in the fall at Levenworth, Mike checked in in January. So if he's playing football it's the same disorganized version he played in Atlanta...sandlot.

Did this franchise ever need a guy like Dimitroff to take over football ops.
