Like any NE fan, I initially found it endearing when our former DC-for-the-day, Eric Mangina, was dubbed "Mangenius" by the New York media (for actually making the playoffs.)

Unless and until Dom Capers creates a defensive scheme allowing a franchise-best points-against record, or a SB shutout, or some such similar accomplishment, I would like to propose a few things we are not allowed to call him or chant to signify our love for him:

Capernicus
Habe Capum (also: Sunday will not be renamed Cape Diem)
Cape God
Dom-ination
Cape Fear

You're all invited to forbid other nicknames here.

For the record, I'm still trying to encourage others not to evoke the female anatomy to denigrate the Jet's rat of a coach. It's childish and insulting to women.

Seems to me that the name "MangIdiot" is more relevant especially given the incredibly premature label of "genius".

That being said, I highly doubt anyone's going to knickname Capers - but I'll put my vote in for "The Caped Crusader"!

Isn't Mangidiot every bit the childish nickname that Mangina is?

the Capes of Wrath

DOMinator

KingDOM of Pain

I heard it through the CapeVine

I still call him Mangenius, but sarcastically. It works extra well because he's neither a man nor a genius.

I've always prefered ManJudas myself, but I have no problem with envisioning female anatomy wether his name has been evoked or not.

I'm not trying to be denigrating or insulting, I just can't help myself.

Well, let's see - one attempts to insult him by equating him with a part of the female anatomy.

One takes the term "ManGenius" and twists it into the more apropo and still phoneticly pleasing "MangIdiot".

Perhaps someone can explain to me why Manginia is funny - because I don't quite get it. I'm not sure the women members of Patsfans necesarilly find it funny either.

I doubt that this turns into a Ditka/Ryan rivalry.
But I do like the idea of Capers coming into help
out on D.
Great D, FF wise. (I won my leagues best D with them:D)
Just seemed to bend too often and it seemed to me that
when the offense got the lead, the D would give it back.
Happened more than a few times this year.
BB said something about getting a little more aggressive.
I'm all for that.

If the D shows some ferocity this year, the nicknames will come to Capers. Sorry PFiV.:)

or how about nostradomous.

LOL 363839... just remember, you heard it hear first. Not that I'd want to see a Capers defense get "solved" after, say, 3 straight shutouts. But you know what the press and our local loonies do with a guy who's the bomb for 3 weeks... or for that matter, who bombs for 3 weeks (see Maroney, L.)

J6P et al, I don't really want to have a grandiose discussion here, since it's the "waste time by coming up with overenthusiastic nickname for Capers" thread, rather than a dedicated Mangina gender politics thread. Start one and I'm glad to contribute. Otherwise, please don't hijack this one (such as it is.)

Thanks

PFnV

The Caper di tutti Capers?

Worse than Mangina in that Mangidiot mocks ******ed people.

But then, it's only an internet forum....

Would such defensive schemes be known as Dominatricks?

The Caper di tutti Capers?

You....Your good.....you.

for those who did not know what he came up with the real phrase translates to boss of all bosses

For my part I've always envied your well-timed screen name ;)

Now I would not object to spot use of "pulling Capers" to describe various unorthodox defensive successes.
