Ok.. Here is my mock (and I know it will be mocked.. LOL :D) :

Round 1: Patriots trade down with Baltimore. Baltimore trades the #8 and a 4th round pick. Baltimore Selects Matt Ryan.
Trade down with Carolina: Carolina trades their 1st, 2nd and 5th round picks to the Patriots for #8 over-all. Carolina takes Sedrick Ellis.

Patriots select Brandon Albert (OG)

2nd round pick: 43: Cliff Avril (OLB)
2nd round pick: 62: Jonathan Goff (ILB)
3rd round pick: 69: Antwaun Molden (CB)
3rd round pick: 94: Chevis Jackson (CB)
4th round pick: 106: Jeremy Zuttah (OL)
4th round pick: 129: Quentin Demps (SS)
5th round pick: 141: Corey Lynch (FS)
5th round pick: 164: Stanford Keglar (LB)

I like everyone of these players. Drafting Albert at 13 is different than drafting him at #7. My preference would be for Clady or Williams, whichever is on the board, over Albert, because they have more potential (IMO) at LT. But so be it. If this happened I would be happy as a pig in s**t.

BTW- I like that you have the players coming off the board in a realistic way, just ahead of their draft projections. While the trade down is an ideal situation, which some may find fault with, where each player is selected is very realistic.

I like the players, not sure about all the trades. I think if they were wheeling and dealing like that a couple of the picks would be for 2009, that is usually their MO.

The roster would look pretty good after a draft like that.

Especially with probably needing some ammo to go and target Rey from USC and James from OSU

Not a bad mock, position wise.
I'd like to see us draft some good Tight Ends though.

I'm not sure Carolina would give up so much to move up in round 1.

Yes, typically their MO, but they should have an abundance of picks next year when you consider the likely compensatory selections. No need for 13-14 picks next year. More likely would be to package some of these acquired 2008 picks (and their own) to move up in some rounds. JMHO.

I think the idea of trading down with Carolina is very realistic. I think we can get their 2nd. Not sure about the 5th. Also, I don't think Ryan last until 7. That said, I think you were very realistic in whom to pick. I don't have any problems with any of the players you have noted. I can scratch that extra 4th and 5th from your list and still think it's a productive day.

If Albert plays G, do you think L.Mankins could move to RT?

CAR gives up way too much for Ellis. Why would they want him that badly? I could see them making that trade for our #7 if Ryan is on the board and they are in love with him. But not sure a team gives up that much for a DL who isn't top 3 talent.

Pats have always valued DL. I believe the Panthers do too. Drafted J.Peppers very high. Don't forget they traded K.Jenkins. Could use a stud at DT to replace him. And, in a copy-cat league given the Giants success other teams will too.

Even though the trades didn't work out for either team. The Jets gave up a lot more than that to move up and take D.Robertson, and the Saints did the same for J.Sullivan. I don't think a 2nd is out of the ordinary for moving up that many slots.

Why would Baltimore trade with us when they know we won't be picking Ryan. I could see they may be afraid we would trade the spot to someone else, but I would expect them to give us something more like a 3rd to sweeten the deal in that scenario.

I think you have Goff about 2 rounds too high; much too much love for him around here.

I just don't see the Pats drafting a TE when they have Watson and Thomas and Spach. Spach proved himself to be a very solid blocking TE. There just isn't a good deal of TEs in this draft who are worth anything.

No. I think that Mankins stays where he's at and Albert would push Neal for the starting RG position.

I don't believe its way too much for the #8 pick. Also, with the likes of Chicago and possibly Cincinnati wanting to try and make a grab for Ellis, I can see the Panthers trading "that much" for Ellis.Ellis would be the DT that they need to replace Jenkins and would start immediately for them, lining up next to Peppers.

Because they know that there are teams behind them (Carolina, Chicago, Tampa) who might be jockeying for a trade up to grab Ryan.

Sorry, but the jump from 13 to 8 is going to take more than just a third round pick.

I have Goff as a late 2nd round pick. Goff is a SOLID 3rd rounder. NO way does he fall late into the 4th as you are suggesting.

I'll admit I do all my "scouting" from reading reports but based on Lindy's (from NFL Draft Scout), Pro Football Weekly, NFL Draft Countdown, I expect Goff to go in the 4th or 5th round.

NFLDraftScout has him going in the third round, and ranked 78th overall, if you check his current profile.

NFLDraftCountdown has him listed as a "Mid rounder", and ranked 84th overall. That's a third rounder.

Condraft has Goff going 53rd overall (Steelers), and ranked 72nd overall.

Football's Future has him as the top ranked ILB in the draft, and 38th overall on their board.

Scouts Inc's newest profile seems to agree with you (they have him listed as an early 5th rounder), and 119th overall on their board. What I don't understand here, is that the previous version of his profile said he could be a second round pick (I believe), with a good senior campaign. Well, he had a good senior season... I think Matt Williamson did the new version, and maybe McShay, or someone else did the old version.

GBN has him at 90. That would before our 2nd pick in the 3rd round. NFL Draft Countdown doesn't have him in Top 100. But, from looking at players they have around 100 and positional rankings. He's probably somewhere between 101-110. I don't think he's a reach at 69.
