Listening to Sirius radio today, there is some speculation that Cleveland may be doing something before the draft on Brady Quinn who may be traded considering the commitment to Anderson.

Does anyone thing theres a possibility that Miami trades thier #1 in some kind of swap with Cleveland to have the rights to the guy the Dolphins SHOULD have gone for at QB last year?

Seems unlikely as I can't see what 2008 draft player Cleveland would want so much at #1 that they would give Quinn's rights away but if any other team may be trade bait for quinn who is that team besides Miami that might be crazy to do it on what I feel will be an overated Quinn in the big leagues?

What about Chicago? I personally thought that they were going to go after Derek Anderson this year even though he was an RFA, because of how much Cleveland was invested in Brady Quinn. I know Chicago's #14 pick isn't exactly huge and it would probably take more than this, but are they seriously going to continue to stick with Grossman and Orton? Perhaps a 1st round pick and a mid-round pick as well - that gives Cleveland a clear cut QB position and puts them back into the first round. Maybe I'm crazy, but thoughts?

What about Carolina? Matt Moore didn't tear the world up last year and Jake Delhomme is ALWAYS hurt. With Carr gone, maybe Quinn could be the future.

Another possibility would be Atlanta. That number 3 pick might be used, but I personally think they need to trade down with all the holes they have to fill.

Kansas City and Baltimore also need QBs...but I don't know what kind of trades they would be looking for. Seems like there are a lot of teams that need a future QB, but it seems like people are pretty split on what Quinn will be able to do as a pro.

I think if Cleveland is going to dangle Brady Quinn and considering that he is looked at as a future star by some (which I am NOT convinced of that) I would think it is going to either take a high draft pick in trade to let him get away so with that said,If there is going to be anything happening with Quinn in a trade it would probably be with a team who drafts in the top 10 -

So since you can rule out New England for obvious reasons,I can see Miami,Kansas City,Atlanta or maybe even St.Louis as top players in that kind of deal.
Chicago picks a bit lower thus maybe they would have to give a #1 and maybe a later pick as well.

Nevertheless it will be interesting to see - What I don't see is if Anderson is as good as he looked last year Cleveland will have to do something with Quinn,He is too highly regarded by some to sit on the bench for 2 or 3 more years barring any injury to Anderson.

But just think of how Atlanta got screwed when Vick was suddenly gone and they gave away Schaub weeks before,Stuff like that may make a team think twice about depth at the most important position in football.

I can't see the Browns trading into the top 10... with the rookie salary cap it would make it nearly impossible. Chicago makes sense, as does the Panthers. This seems like bad news to me... those are people that might trade up for Ryan with us.

I don't think the Browns are trading Quinn. I think Savage likes him and the new Anderson contract isn't too hard to cut or trade based on how it's structured.

I think its unlikely he is traded this year but you never know.

But if Derek Anderson becomes the QB that we saw last year on a regular basis then IMO theres no way the Browns just keep Quinn with a clipboard on the sidelines for 2 more years or more - theres no way that happens,Quinn is MUCH highly heralded (and paid) than say an Aaron Rodgers so no he won't be a backup for long.

Rarily has ANY 1st round QB been a backup for too long before they start at QB - In fact I can't remember too many 1st round QBs that went into thier 3rd year without starting at least a little.

IMO If Derek does not screw up this year or has any major injury and plays well I can't see the Browns holding on to Quinn past 2008

Anderson was mediocre in the second half. I have no doubt the Browns have chosen to buy themselves another year before making the decision. They can trade Quinn in 12 months if Anderson plays well. If Anderson doesn't play well they can move on to Quinn.

You named one above :)

I don't see how you can say St. Louis; I know Bulger was hurt last year but they invested WAY too much money in him to give up on him after one injury plagued season.

I'm really curious to see if KC has completely given up on Croyle yet. They liked him so much, then put him behind a terrible line, with virtually no weapons (other than Gonzalez), and combine that with LJ being hurt, I can't see why they are ready to give up on him already. That being said, they still seem high on Ryan, so Quinn is a possiblity if they really just want a QB.

I could see Miami doing it IF Cleveland had a rd 1 pick, which they don't, because of the extra pick involved. John Beck was terrible, you can't really count on him without bringing in someone to challenge him or takeover. It's not as if Josh McCown is the future there, and he proved he's not much in Oakland, so I could see them doing it because an extra pick provides depth, but Cleveland would have to package picks to move up, then swap with Miami; I could see that, because Miami needs help everywhere, but unless Cleveland does that, I really don't see this happening; Miami sure as hell would not give up #1 overall for just quinn and a midround pick.

Atlanta I wonder about as well. Again, their pick may be too high. Quinn was picked 23rd and I find it hard to believe that the Browns can get a top 5 pick for someone picked that late, so it'd have to be a package deal. Atlanta needs depth as well, but their situation is just as dire as Miami (Joey Harrington vs. Chris Redman and DJ Shockley yessss) so you never know what they might do; again depth is a huge issue for them, so they have a large number of moves they can make in order to improve.

I think Chicago and Carolina are more likely, because I just don't agree that it is a top 10 team that pulls the trigger - why would you trade a top 10 pick for a guy who was pick 23 and is unproven? As was mentioned this could be bad for us as those are potential suitors of Matt Ryan. Baltimore is in the mix as well but perhaps the geniuses over there think that they should give Kyle Boller "one more try" so who the hell knows.

To be honest, I think it is to Cleveland's benefit to move Quinn and move him now; if DA busts they can't trade Quinn because they will need him, and if DA goes all Pro Bowl type on us again, it will be harder to trade him because teams will know they need to offload Quinn's contract. This team could get seriously good quickly, I think, if they move him, but who the hell knows.

Watch some team no one has mentioned come in and trade for him; you never know with the NFL sometimes.

Why would Quinn be going anwhere? I suppose he could go to Miami for their second. It's not like he shown anything.
