The right side is just not very strong. Any of the four could be upgraded.

Right Side
Neal, Yates, Kazcur, O'Callaghan

Left side
Light, Britt, Mankins, Hochstein (also backs up at center)

it really, really depends...

u take the whole regular season, u cannot argue with the play of EITHER side...u take the SB, the WHOLE o-line needs a complete redoing

what happened in the SB is almost unexplainable, how the O-line just like forgot how to play football

they dont call it the fluke ball for nothing

either way, i think our o-line is more then at an acceptable standing right now

I agree with ALP, but if Gholston is gone at #7, and they can't trade down, I wouldn't mind seeing the Pats take Clady. That would immediately upgrade LT and RT, and move Kaczur to the bench, where he'd go from a below-average starter to an above-average backup.

Word out of Philly is that Reid is willing to trade up from their #19 to get that Vandy OT(?Chris Williams?). He'll likely use Lito has his trade bait(and wouldn't surprise me at all if he ends up selling out McNabb as well-doubt it, but won't be surprising).

If, let's say, the Pats trade with Dallas to get their #22 and #28(of course, for the rights to McF), would there be any more good OTs left by #22?

if taht happens, i expect us packaging 22 and our 2nd rounder to move to 15ish range, to select groves, and take cason with 28 (which btw, will make me ecstatic)

Run the ball. The offensive line cure all.

Except in the Super Bowl, the line proved just as inept in the running game as it was in the passing game.

Yup, except when all you have as a running threat is #39, it's a dead giveaway that when #33's in the game, it's a pass. I'm not saying they ran very time #39 was in, or passed every time #33 was in, but percentages swung heavily in those directions, and the Giants' gameplan seemed to pretty much cover the times when the percentages swung the other way.

A healthy Sammy Morris and a viable receiving TE2 (like Thomas) would've made a huge difference.

Hoch was Neal's replacement in the superbowl.

I say improve the whole line.

It's not a good sign that your oline cost you the superbowl.

Not a good sign at all.

well, yes, and no. We could use some better depth on the o-line, but you can't blame the whole s.b. loss on them. that was a team loss. they certainly went out of their way to help with the loss though.

the thing most people seem to be doing, is judging the o-line off of that one game. We need to look at their overall play for the whole season. which, btw, was actually pretty good. everyone keeps bringing up the rt spot, but if you look at the game again, you'll see the main problem was in the middle. yes, logan had a bad game too. Watch the film, and you'll see the tackles do a pretty decent job of taking the d.e.'s wide, but if tommy can't step up in the pocket, he's gonna go down.

Now with that said, I'm all in favor of improvements, and I'll always trust b.b.'s judgement. I just think sh*t canning the right side of our line, because of one bad game is, well, dumb. Up till the superbowl, everyone was praising how much time brady had in the pocket. We need to keep that in mind.

If we did either of those trade downs I would not be surprised at all to see them take Alberts at 22. Mankins was supposed to be a versitile player coming out, why not try and move him to RT and let Alberts slide in LG and learn the LT position?? He has the body for it, and he plays against Long everyday....Its not exactly what I or alot of us would want, but I wouldnt be surprised at all if it happens. Alberts will go alot higher than most think.

The giants defense played great. They only rushed 16 times. While they were not moving the ball at all in the second half, they could have gone back to the run and slowed that pass rush down.

We allowed the giants to make us one dimensional.

Sound familiar? It should. That's what has been the cornerstone of our success doing it to the other guy.

Running game is rhythm, it will pick up if you don't abandon it.

We kept running Pokey A. Smith on the way to 2 Super Bowls.

Really? Not very strong??

This is based on the Super Bowl performance, correct?

Because other than that Tommy had all day to throw the ball last year.

Not trying to be too argumentative here, and I agree all teams can do better either with the players they have or thru the draft, but our core group performed pretty good (sans the SB).

I think the right side of the line needs to be upgraded, but I am against it in the first round. Clearly our biggest needs are on defense and if we don't address the defense in the first round, I will be pissed.

Yes, the o-line struggled mightily in the Super Bowl, but the o-line this season overall has been as good or better all year long. It is kinda funny that all the Brady haters out there claim he was only good this past season because the o-line gave him all day and many Pats fans want to make upgrading the o-line the #1 priority in the draft.

Personally, I think we can address the o-line in rounds three and beyond. I hope we use our first two picks on defensive players who can hopefully make an impact near immediately. Right now, our only gaping hole on the entire team is in the LB corp and maybe the secondary depending if they move Meriweather and what Bryant can do. You gotta address those needs first.

I have a new nomination for the worst analysis of the year. You do remember that we have THREE pro-bowlers on our OL. Also, please re-state for us all the terrible number of sacks that Brady experienced last year compared to other teams, as well as the relative ineffectiveness of our pass-blocking compared to other teams. And yes, even on the run, please post our run per carry average compared to other teams. Finally, please post how badly our offense rated in various categories last season. Surely, our offense must have done terribly in 2007 with no running game and a terrible OL. sheeesh

My personal opinion is that we have one of the best OL's in the league, and that we could use some improvement on the right side, adn would strongly support the drafting of Jake Long or Alberts at RT or RG respectively.

Hoch was Neal's replacement in the superbowl.

Oh my GOD that would be a great draft.

I agree 100% with your original post that we could stand to upgrade the Right side of our OL. And while I am a huge fan of J Long at ROT (I do not think Long projects well as a LOT) I think the Pats should stay away, far away from Alberts.

Alberts is extremely athletic and versatile, two things that BB looks for in OL guys, but he is not a road grader (he lacks the flat back), his technique is sloppy and he looks like a leaner rather than an explosive popper.

BB could get OG material a little later on day 1, Scheuning or McGlynn and not suffer that much of a drop off from Albert.

The LT isn't that great imo...

yeah, I said it.

I think that Light, is so-so.

I think that he could upgraded just as Kazcur could (and should) be upgraded.

Heck, I bet that Mankins could be a better LT than Light.

I wouldn't doubt for a minute that he could.

FCUK OFF...

It needs to be addressed.

You know it does.

I obviously know it does.

ProBowl means nothing to me.

NOTHING.
