Is Lito worth a 2nd and a 5th rounder this year?

  • No,I would expect the first pick to be a corner so why waste 2 picks?

Would you trade Chad Johnson & Clint Oldenburg for Lito Sheppard? How about Bethel Johnson & Ryan Claredge?

I would. ;)

i say yes because the pats should be trying to win now, not in 3 or 4 years. right now they have a great chance

Belichick has vast mental abilities, but I don't think he'd get the Bengals to give up Johnson as part of a trade with Philly. :)

If we gave up a 5th for Sheppard that would mean that we couldn't give our 5th for Seward?

Yes. But the deadline for tender offers is before the draft, FWIW.

No, but not because I don't think that he is a good corner. He is decent, but for the money I would take a chance in the middle of the draft. I agree with everyone that if we are going to pay him, why wouldn't we have kept Asante?

Why do Pats fans keep dreaming that a top rate cornerback

would be willing to come to the Patriots and play for a fraction

of his market value? Any good cornerback will base his salary demands

upon what Asante is earning.

Perhaps because people are smart enough to look at the Patriots roster in recent seasons and see the likes of:

T. Brady
R. Moss
T. Bruschi
T. Brown
A. Thomas

It may be wishful thinking to believe that any particular player will come to New England at a 'discount', but it's clear that, in recent years, some players have been willing to play for the Patriots for less money than they could have been making elsewhere.
