Of all Free Agents traded to other teams in this offseason, who do you think will perform much better than expected with his new team and play at an even higher level than he was before? (or in other words,Who will fit in with his new team the best?)

Lets leave out Moss who was still with the Patriots last year and does not count but you can say Jason Webster or Tank Williams ect: if you wish (but if you do,you should be homer slapped ;))

I will take a shot a Jonathan Vilma who is just what the Saints need in the middle of that soft D

I think Vilma will get 10 sacks or more and be pro bowl bound as I think he was just unhappy with the way the Jets defense was run and Mangini was not the coach he needed to fully show his full talent which I think has not been seen as of yet.

Despite last years failure,I think the Saints are going to be very tough in the NFC with Vilma and Gay now added on defense.

How about your pick on this years FA players as of right now? - Who will be the biggest success on his new team?

Re: As of now: Which highly touted FA will give his NEW team his best performance ye

I think the Browns are going to be a lot better, and might win the North. Shaun Rogers rushing up the middle should help their line, so I'll go with him.

Bernard Berrian actually giving Tarvaris Jackson somebody to throw to. Add that and that tandem they have in the backfield, and Minnesota might be good again this year.

i think berrian will perform very well, he did well with grossman, griese, orton at QB. He should put up good numbers in minnesota

The saints defense will be much tougher because it now has Randall Gay?

You do realize that Gay is immediately better than any CB that the Saints have on their roster, right? I mean, unless you think Jason David is the CB of the year.

Vilma FTW

I was pretty surprised that the Jets didn't try him on the weakside at least, but they are officially ******ed to give him up for what they did. Vilma can be one of the top 3 MLB's in the game when healthy. If he can roam free a bit because of a strong defensive line (Saints do have great DEs), than he will make tons of plays. Having Dan Morgan should be a phenomenal addition as well, if he can stay healthy. He has always been an injury concern but provides even more athleticism and tackling to the Saints below average unit.

I think Vilma is a great move as well.

I don't think this is going to be some sort of All-Pro move, but what about Jerry Porter as a Jag? Garrard is pretty accurate, and if Porter could return to his form as a decent receiver (topping out just below 1000 yards), the Jags might have a passing game to complement their oft used rushing tandem. Anyone else think this could work for them, or is it a bust?

Was it better with that Colts castoff they had there last year? (Jason David)

Can't be worse

I live in Jacksonville and everyone around here seems really excited about it. Porter might just be a product of (J)Oakland's quarterback situation, ala Randy Moss.

Are you saying David Gerrard is comparable to Tom Brady? - or even to the top 5 QBs in the league?

Thats assinine,Gerrard is an AVERAGE QB and nothing more.

Now Brady,Manning,Palmer,Brees and Romo are of much better quality than David and I could go on....

You kidding me, dude? Where in that sentence did I compare Garrard to Brady or call him one of the top 5 QBs in the league? PLEASE point it out to me. Now, if you want to put words in my mouth about Garrard, then I will give you that he is better than any QB Oakland has on their roster right now. This could change in a couple of years if Russell pans out.

What I was saying is that Jerry Porter might be a better WR than he has been in the last few years now that he's paired up with an accurate QB. Maybe you should actually read my post before you call is assinine.

I think to turn a top flight receiver who has been lacking in recent years back to respectability you need a TOP FLIGHT QB to get him there.

I truly believe that Moss would have been average at best in 2007 if he was on any other team with a QB not named Peyton Manning,Brett Favre or Tom Brady.

While Garrard's stats show he is a pretty accurate passer he is not in the league of the guys I mentioned although Porter can do no worse,Thats for sure but I would not put him at or over a 1,000 yard season next year,I really have no reason to think Porter is that much better unless with a true elite QB and a perfect system for his abilities,We will see what he is really made of.

Wrong. To turn him back to respectability (which doesn't mean blowing away the 1,000 yard mark), you need a QB who is better than what the Raiders have. Garrard is immediately better than anybody the Raiders have on their roster at this point.

Re: As of now: Which highly touted FA will give his NEW team his best performance ye

Wait-

Isn't the title of this thread which highly touted free agent...?

I regret to inform you Vilma was traded to the Saints.

Re: As of now: Which highly touted FA will give his NEW team his best performance ye

Vilma is not going to get 10 sacks. He's coming off an injury and even if he was 100% healthy do you seriously think they are going to blitz him that much?

He'll be solid in time I believe.

It must be because Jacksonville hasn't had a receiver since Jimmy Smith retired. Unless they're still giving Matt Jones time to "pan out" :D

Browns made great moves. Donte, Rodgers. If Anderson is consistent theyll be playoff bound

Everyone is praising the Rogers trade after saying he was very inconsistent in Detroit. So which is it? It's like people like him more in Cleveland...as if that will make him work harder.

Re: As of now: Which highly touted FA will give his NEW team his best performance ye

Well, I hope it's Fernando Bryant, and not Asante Samuel, but I'm not putting any money on that ;)
