Troy Brown: "Wonder what I'd look like in green?"
Eric Mangina: "Wonder what he'd look like in green?"

Crennel: No interest in Troy Brown
Scratch one potential home off the list for free agent wide receiver Troy Brown. Cleveland coach Romeo Crennel said the Browns won’t be pursuing one of the most popular players in Patriots history.

“ITroy is a great guy,” Crennel said. “I love him to death, but we have some guys on our team now that we’re pretty satisfied with, so we are not going to be talking to Troy. But he’d be great for any team, because he’s a great leader and a great player.”

Crennel said the looking at Brown was tempting because of his leadership and intangibles.

“You know what you’re getting,” he said. “But you also have to look at the rest of your team and how it’s structured and how that would impact your wide receiver room and special teams situation too. Because with a guy like Josh Cribbs at returner and Braylon Edwards at receiver, we just felt it would be better to stay status quo.”

I think if he hadn't muffed that punt, he might have retired, but I'm sure that play just haunts him.

when is the Troy Brown retirement presser sched. at Gillette?

(since it must be dawning on him he's all done)

I'd imagine it's hard to let the fire in the belly extinguish. Then again maybe he feels it doesn't need to yet....

Chicago Bears may be looking for a cold weather receiver.

Hell, Chicago Bears may be looking at Troy Brown for quarterback.

He should stay in shape and see if the Patriots need a guy in November. He'd be the 53rd guy on the rooster.

Because having ONE kick returner and ONE wide receiver means your team is set...

I don't necessarily think Troy would make a huge impact on the Browns where they are, but that's a pretty flimsy statement, IMO.

I don't follow the Browns that closely but after overpaying Willie for his leadership skills more so than his football skills, I think he might be worried about criticism for filling the 53 man roster with guys who are great role models but can't really play anymore.
