Is Lito worth a 2nd and a 5th rounder this year?

  • No,I would expect the first pick to be a corner so why waste 2 picks?

The Eagles have been reported as asking for a 2nd and a 5th round pick in this years draft for the rights to Sheppard - Is he worth this much to give up for a veteran corner?

On top of the fact that we'd have to redo his contract? I'm not so sure.

I'm happier with Chad Scott/Hobbs/Bryant and a first and second day draft pick than trading for and then paying Lito Sheppard.

The 2nd is low enough and the our 5th is even lower now with the compensatory picks that I just might do it. The only concern I have is Sheppard's durability. But other than that he is a pretty dam good cover corner. But, also what does Lito want as far as money goes? That to me is more of the problem than the picks.

I'd do it. We're in a win now type of mode and getting him would help us reach the super bowl and possibly win it. I could really care less about the money because he'll probably want a new deal AFTER this season and if he can help bring a title then who cares if he leaves after 08? Plus we could always franchise or transition tag him and if Belichick and Pioli don't want to pay him just deal him away while he's tagged.

No, but not because there is a lack of talent, he is too much money, almost assante money and there is some solid talent in rounds 2-4

If we do that, then pay him, then what was the point in getting rid of Samuel in the first place. A big, fat NO.

Exactly, Assante admitedly is a better corner, and more importantly he was actually on the field the last few years

No. Sheppard is injury prone, turning 27 and could be asking for a lot of money through an extention. I would rather use that 2nd round pick on a CB through the draft. Although there aren't any Champ Bailey's in this years draft class, the CB position looks to be pretty deep.

No thanks, I'd rather have Flowers, Cason, Jackson or Thomas. Football Outsiders had Sheppard with one of the worst success rates in the league through 12 weeks last season for what its worth.

I need two more posts to start a big thread.

No. Lito Shepards talent + his $ required doesn't equal the price.

Has anyone here ever said, man! I wish we had Lito Shepard?

Beyond THIS off-seaon, that answer should universally be no. Otherwise, well, hell, to each his own.

I picked "No, I would take my chances on a Mid/Lower round corner", as it came the closest to my thinking. Honestly, your options sucked.

The actual reason I voted No:

Trading 2nd and 5th round consideration is just to rich, since you would also have to sign Sheppard to a substantial contract.

Also, You gave the "take my chances on a Mid/Lower round corner", and "expect the first pick to be a corner" options, but why couldn't they take a corner with the second round pick, or two corners using both selections?

Getting back to Sheppard. Trading a second rounder for Lito would be a fair deal, if he played under his current contract. But, he wants a pay raise, which is among the main reasons behind their shopping him. So, I'll again say that I doubt the Patriots trade for Sheppard.

I think he is signed for more than just 08. If he is, and its reasonable by our standards I would send them a pick pending him reporting. I think a better trade for both sides would be to trade 7 for 19 and Lito......

That's more like it. And take a lb at 19.
A 2 and a 5 No thanks.

If we gave up a 5th for Sheppard that would mean that we couldn't give our 5th for Seward?

Where's the choice for would you give one of your third rounders this year? For that I would say "yes."

Speaking of Chad Scott, any news on him resigning yet? Sure haven't heard much about him since the injury.

Can I get a Hell F'in Yeah? I'd do that in a heartbeat.
