For about a month or so, Draft Tek has had the Pats drafting McKelvin. Now, it goes like this (first 6 + all Pats picks):

1 MIA Matt Ryan (was Chris Long)
2 STL Chris Long
3 ATL Glenn Dorsey
4 OAK Vernon Gholston
5 KC Jake Long
6 NYJ Darren McFadden

7 Ryan Clady OT Boise State [Branden Albert goes at 21]
62 Tavares Gooden ILB Miami
69 Dustin Keller TE Purdue
94 Dwight Lowery CB San Jose State
125 Bryan Kehl OLB Brigham Young
155 Marcus Griffin FS Texas
187 Terrence Wheatley CB Colorado
219 Mike Dragosavich P North Dakota State

I'm not thrilled with the exact players, but I think the distribution of positions (ILB, OLB, CB, CB, S, TE, OL, P) is about as good as we could hope for.

If Clady turns out to be a stud LT, we won't regret taking him.

A special teamer from North Dakota State. Despite it being the wrong Dakota, that sounds eerily familiar.

If Gholston goes before 7, then I personally don't see a better option than Clady. There's enough depth at CB that we can wait until second round without a huge dropoff, and none of the LBs after Gholston are worth the #7. Plus OT really is a need for us, and drafting Clady would improve both LT and RT, plus relegate Kaczur to backup where he belongs.

Ideally, we'd draft Gholston at 7 and a CB in round two to address both defensive needs, but signing someone like Adam Seward and getting Seau back as a backup could push our LB need out one more year.

FWIW, the Patriots are scheduled to workout McKelvin privately at Troy, and then later in the month (April) McKelvin's already scheduled a private visit to Gillette.

Ugly picks. Clady & Kehl (as an ILB) are decent choices. M Griffin is fine for ST fodder at the end of the fifth. Dwight Lowery? Are you kidding? He had trouble w/ the decent receivers in the WAC. The others define JAG as they simply don't fit.

Yep just noticed that too. If Bill Belichick is at either of those privately working them out then thats a massive sign.

BB worked out Mike Jenkins and Trae Williams, and it's been reported that NE sent Capers down to take a look at Jenkins on the 28th.

So far we know BB's personally worked out:
Mikes Jenkins
Trae Williams
Drew Miller

Dom Capers had a long interview with Safety Chris Horton. Do you know if it was reported as to which coach or scout had the film session with Zack Bowman? I'm sure BB and Capers have both seen more prospects, but those are the only guys that I can think of where BB and Capers where specifically mentioned. A lot of times it just says "The Patriots", "coach, or "scouts", and doesn't give the specific names.

I'm pretty sure we'll try to move down, but if we can't, McKelvin is definitely in the mix...along with Clady, I reckon. (assuming the usual suspects are gone)

Trying to figure out why you mention Albert....as of last week he is my sleeper pat pick.....

On the Mayock thread (and possibly others), Mayock has Albert #7 overall.
