ESPN on Brady being hit-not sacked often

I have been saying for much of the last few seasons that the OL owes Brady a big thank you for a portion of the praise it gets. Those stats show our OL at about 11th in the league in pass protection and that seems about right to me. It's an above average group, but Brady makes it one of the best in the league with his ability to withstand pressure and move around in the pocket.

Which is why I wouldn't mind adding Clady or Williams in the draft. Or any of the number of guards in the mid rounds who are projected as good, athletic blockers who could do well in zone blocking schemes, Thomas, McGlynn, Rinehart, Cousins. Schatz makes a decent point that Brady's safety comes into play. We throw the ball so much, it has to be a big priority to keep Tom upright.

That's a very good point and one I hadn't thought of, and I am on the take an LT bandwagon (although I'm also on the pass rushing beast bandwagon...I'm on a few draft bandwagons right now).

On a related note, count me among those who wouldn't mind seeing the Patriots go with a more conventional and conservative approach at times. I suspect we might see a little more balance next year. But even if we do, this is a pass first team, and a team that needs to protect Brady, and drafting a Clady or Williams - or any highly rated tackle who is great at pass protection - and putting them at RT is something I'd personally welcome.

It's totally not BS - the Pats are so committed to the passing game it made it easy for the Giants to come after Brady. It's not like Maroney was going to break off a 20-yard gain on them.

comes back to the same argument. Pats have always game planned every game as needed. So when its needed to throw 35 times they did and when they needed to run 25 times they did. like the steelers game and the chargers game.
When it doesnt work , people can say a lot of obvious things like we shouldve run the ball more.i agree , we couldve .But we were the highest scoring offense in history built on our QB and WR's . We just didnt game plan our passing game well. there was no adjustment like rolling brady out to the left or right until the last drive when moss couldnt hang on to the throw. nor was there any creativity in using moss inside until the fourth quarter.
if the tyree catch is intercepted instead, no one would complain the pats throw too much.

I honestly don't have a problem with them throwing the ball every single play. What I do have a problem with is doing it from the shotgun every single time and making it completely obvious that they are going to pass. This makes it easy for the defense to just tee off everytime. Honestly, I can't remember a Pats game in the past 2 years with McDaniels at the helm where I didn't have a very good idea of what play was coming up based on the formation and situation.
