I heard Pacman is on the final year of his contract which only pays him something like 1.2 million for the 2008 season.

The Cowboys are rumored to be offering a 5th or 6th round pick.

If we offered our 4th round pick for Pacman, we would probably get him.
There is a good chance the player we draft in the 4th round will not
make the team. Last year we drafted Kareem Brown in the 4th round with
the 127th pick. He did not last long.

Pacman knows that if the commish allows him to play in 2008, he is going
to have a short leash. He also knows that if he has a good 2008, with no
outside trouble, he will probably score in the free agent market in 2009.

If we do lose Pacman after one season and he gets a good contract,
we will get a decent comp pick (probably equal to the 4th we gave up).

I feel the reward vs the risk is worth rolling the dice.

So worth the 4th round pick - not even a question for me.

I will gladly pick him up at the airport, carry his bags and buy him dinner, before heading to Foxboro.

Id give out a 4th rounder for him in a heartbeat the only thing that worries me is he keeps stating that he wants to play for Dallas, I wonder if he'l be pist being traded to us n not Dallas.

Bring an umbrella

Re: Why I now want the Pats to trade for Pacman Jones.

Isn't this pointless? I thought the Pats came out today throwing out the "not interested" thread out to the press to tone things down?

I doubt it.
His own lawyer said he'd be a good fit here.

You forgot the stop at the strip club on your way to foxboro

Re: Why I now want the Pats to trade for Pacman Jones.

Does anybody know for sure how trading for Jones affects the salary cap, assuming he does not restructure his contract? For example, would the Pats take on a pro-rated portion of his original signing bonus towards their cap, or is that original bonus all on the Titans' cap regardless if they trade him or cut him? Also, how does his suspension affect what is due on his original contract?

Here is what I read he was due to earn in salary before being suspended.
2007: $1,292,500
2008: $1,742,500
2009: $2,192,000

I can't say anything about the suspension, but a team is never on the hook for $$ paid by another team. In other words, the Pats' cap hit would only reflect whatever they paid him.

Re: Why I now want the Pats to trade for Pacman Jones.

How about a trade for a conditional pick?

A 4th rounder if he plays the entire season.

A 5th rounder if he's charged with a misdemeanor.

A 6th rounder if he's charged with a felony.

A 7th rounder if he's charged with manslaughter.

And if he's convicted of murder we don't have to give up a pick at all.

I could live with that (assuming I'm not the victim).

Re: Why I now want the Pats to trade for Pacman Jones.

No thanks!!!!

Why do you think so many teams are not interested in him if he is such a "good risk".

the guy has blown it so many times.

the risk is real with him, if he comes in to any team and even once gets nailed by the police for the slightest infraction - the distraction to the team will be enormous.

He is not somebody hwho just made a mistake once, twice or even three times...he has screwed up MANY times...it will happen again.

By the way, I doubt the Titans would trade him to the Patriots anyways for only a fourth rounder.

Re: Why I now want the Pats to trade for Pacman Jones.

well from a restructured cap standpoint with minimal offers from nonchalont teams, i would think that he could re-set the manifold of the salary cap infrastructure at 2.78 million with 1.704 million as a roster-compensated, acute signing bonus. This will help to mitigate the corroboration of any compensatory picks that the Titans may receive due to Pacman's "makin' it rain".

The preponderance of the deal has 2 fronts: a mitigated cap reflex with 3.5 million of guaranteed money locked up in a roster bonus... and a 1.3479 million dollar "stop shooting people" bonus.

thanks for your time. And im sorry

The guy is a pure talent on the field and an absolute idiot off. That being said, I think our veteran group along with BB could help keep him in line. He's worth trade consideration. I hope we get him for what he would bring to the team on the field.

The media sh*t storm that would follow would be huge. But wins solve a lot of problems, and I know that is exactly what his lawyer is thinking.

Re: Why I now want the Pats to trade for Pacman Jones.

The guy is trouble, everybody knows that..............on the other hand, does anyone remember that Corey Dillon was arrested 12 times?

Re: Why I now want the Pats to trade for Pacman Jones.

I think it's worth the risk as long as the Pats are able to put him under house arrest. If he wasn't able to leave his house from the hours of 6pm to 6am I think that would be sufficient.

Honestly, you said all that needs to be said about Pacman.

Re: Why I now want the Pats to trade for Pacman Jones.

There have been several players who had attitude problems before that came to New England and got their act together. Someone mentioned Corey Dillon, and how about Randy Moss? All he did before was really not a big deal but suddenly he's in a Pats uniform and everyone loves him.

Didn't Meriweather shoot someone? I think he had a registered weapon and someone else shot first but man...you gotta give people a chance. He also stomped on a couple of FIU players in that brawl last year. Pacman did some terrible things but you can't expect that's all he'll do, and if he does, he'll be banned from the league. I wouldn't even think before accepting him for a 4th rounder.

Will you drive him to the Foxy Lady too?

Oh my god. You better hope Da Bruinz or Sebman2112 don't read this or else they are going to rip you head off for this.
