...Josh Johnson, San Diego.

From Reiss:

Developing young quarterbacks is generally considered good business, and if the Patriots draft a signal-caller this year, one player to keep an eye on is San Diego's Josh Johnson.

The Patriots recently sent a high-ranking member of their coaching staff to meet with Johnson for a private workout. Scouts often say that Division I-AA players must dominate if they are to receive serious NFL consideration, and Johnson did that at the University of San Diego.

A NY Times blog is speculating the Pats may want him as a WR:

...my best guess is that the Patriots don’t view drafting Johnson as drafting a quarterback. More likely, they’re considering Johnson’s ability to play some other position, probably wide receiver. And for his potential to turn into an NFL receiver, I think Johnson is the most intriguing prospect in this year’s draft.

Reminds me of the year we had Michael Timpson & Stephan Starring as WR's. Michael Timpson ... he of the "ball & swivel hips". Anyways ... hard to see a player getting reps at WR in this league now ... the position is so much more demanding than it used to be.

Anyways ... the guy runs a 4.6 - 40 I think Reiss is all wet on this one. If he were 6'7" and ran a 4.6 well maybe but at 6'2" ... I think he's a development kind of kid. He could be gone by the 4th round so I doubt we pick him. I would rather see Belichick take a flyer on Dennis dixon in a later round ... better athlete. He might play baseball but worth a shot.

Reminds me of the drafting of Rich Gannon.

What's funny is when I posted something about this earlier today, the first thing that came to my mind was "I wonder how he would do at WR?" I didn't post any of those thoughts, but anyone who's watched Johnson might have similar questions.

Also, F.B.N., Josh Johnson runs a 4.55 forty, which is plenty fast for a 6'2" 213lbs athlete.
