Gillete Stadium and its importance to the franchise

Putting aside ticket prices and parking, are you as a Pats fan happy about the new stadium Vs. the old one?

Do you feel that having a new stadium and I assume new practice facility, has helped in recruiting free agents?

Do you feel that Gillete field has improved the franchise in the sense that it has made wining easier somehow?

Of course my Jets will be in new facilities soon and I am curious what type of impact I should expect this will have on the Jets.

It depends....How bad were the facilities at the Meadowlands?? If they were quite good..there may NOT be a large difference. I think part one is an easy question...absolutely YES!!! But I think the difference is not just that it was a NEW stadium...but that the old facilities were almost laughable. From what I understand, there were even high school stadiums that had better facilities. EMBARRASSING!! So I think it was more the difference between the past and the new and with that free agents were a LOT easier recruitable. As far as winning easier?? I am not sure.

One thing where Gillette Stadium wins hands-down, though, is the amount of public financing needed.

And no real fans, as the Ticket prices and seat licenses are astronomical.

I think if the Krafts were to do it over again, they would consider a retractable roof. Without one, there's no shot at ever hosting a Super Bowl.

I'm glad Gillette doesn't have a retractable roof. Football is meant to be played outdoors.

I wouldn't mind if the place was louder, however.

I think if the Krafts were to do it over again, they would consider a retractable roof. Without one, there's no shot at ever hosting a Super Bowl.

I am sure they considered the fact that they wouldn't get a SB with an open air stadium when they built it. They decided other things were more important. I for one am glad because football is meant for the elements.

You think Kraft regrets not having a dome when he sees things like the 04 Snow game happen? I doubt has the tossing of the snow in the air is one of many lasting memories of gillette.

I'm sure they'll despise losing to the Patriots in the new stadium as much as they did losing to them in the Meadowlands.

That memory is priceless!!

There is no way to experience moments such as that (and countless others)without being there.

Makes the price of the tickets and the aggravation of getting to & fro, well worth it.

This is all personal opinion, but I think it's less about Gillette having a positive influence on players coming here than it is about the old Foxboro Stadium having a negative influence.

But ultimately it comes down to the team. I don't think the Houston Texans and the Arizona Cardinals are high on most players lists of teams they'd like to play for and they both have incredible stadiums.

Off topic, but my gripe with Gillette is the lack of escalators. If they can have escalators at the current Meadowlands, then there's really no excuse for not having them at Gillette.

As long as the facilities for players are quality (and they certainly are for Gillette), it doesn't matter how big or expensive the stadium is to the players... their paychecks are the most important things - that and winning.

Keep in mind that Kraft built his stadium without public financing (though the road upgrades were) - so I give him even more credit for not applying for Aid for Families with Dependent Football Franchises.

While not conducive to being loud - the fact is we have a really cool stadium. The seats are really comfortable, sightliness are awesome - even way back on the 3rd level.

The lighthouse and bridge are unique (especially at night with the graphics and light beams shooting out.

The concourses have plenty of room and pretty soon the hotel, restaurant and who knows what else will really add to things.

And of course, last but not least are those three Championship banners!!

Having a home field that makes an opponent uncomfortable, or at least distracted, should have been made a higher priority, though.

I have been to Reliant stadium and I was at arizona this year both new stadiums since gillette and while they have the retractable roof and other things they are no better or worse than gillette, except when you add in my affinity for football in new england wether.

Gillette rocks and stands up to any new stadium built so far...maybe the next round passes it but who would have enjoyed 7 more years in foxboro stadium.
