How is this for a scenario???

We are lumbered with the 7th pick. There are 6 draftees who are worth the packages they are likely to get. Which means that for us to be in a power of strength, we have to hope that one of them falls like Brady Quinn. Which wont happen.

So... we have no.7. Is anyone interested in drafting up? No.

So... do we draft a CB who most people wouldnt draft? And the LB's arent worth a 7th pick package.

Here is a long shot. New England use their 7th pick on a projected 5th\6th rounder. If the agent asks for silly money, we cut him before offering a contract. What do we lose? Nothing... We draft again in the 2nd for a player who is looking for a 2nd rounders financial package. Not someone who is looking for a contract they arent worth.

I'm telling you. I am pretty sure that the Pats have a shady trick up their sleeve if someone like Ghoulston isnt on the board at 7.

or we can just let time expire until about pick 15....

And who would come knocking for Pats' 7th pick? Why would they need it? The 6 men who warrant first round money are likely to have been picked by the time NE are on the board.

dude just give it up. dont try to defend what you wrote.

This sounds like something the Jets would come up with. Remember Belichick and Pioli are not idiots.

"Chicago later traded this selection [#37 overall] to San Diego [used to draft Eric Weddle] for their second-round selection (62nd overall, used to select Dan Bazuin), their third-round selection (93rd overall, used to select Garrett Wolfe), their fifth-round selection (167th overall, used to select Kevin Payne), and their third-round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft."

The question is not if there's a team interested in drafting up--the question is whether or not the price will be right.

I got a little messed up last night too, but I had the good sense to stay away from here until my head cleared.

WOW.....worst post ever, but reading the responses provided plenty of laughs.

In the spirit of that "trick up the sleeve" - here is what we do.

Assuming that both Longs, Gohlston and Dorsey are all taken by the time they get to us and assume that no one is looking to trade, then, we probably would be looking for a CB, but #7 is just too high to take one, simply too costly.

We just keep letting other teams select, until we finally drop low enough to a spot that make sense from the rookie salary perspective.

All we need is to have two players, sort of like playing "deal or no deal" in that you have your big money slot and one or two more as safety nets.

That way, as we keep dropping, when one of the two or three we have selected are taken, well then we jump in and hand the other one in.

This way - someone like Chromartie & McKelvin or Jenkins could be written down and if they both slip on down to say #12 - we get our guy at 12 or 13 instead of 7 - brilliant!!

Thanks for the inspiration there Oslo, I hope you are feeling better by the way.
