We are lumbered with the 7th pick. There are 6 draftees who are worth the packages they are likely to get. Which means that for us to be in a power of strength, we have to hope that one of them falls like Brady Quinn. Which wont happen.

So... we have no.7. Is anyone interested in drafting up? No.

So... do we draft a CB who most people wouldnt draft? And the LB's arent worth a 7th pick package.

Here is a long shot. New England use their 7th pick on a projected 5th\6th rounder. If the agent asks for silly money, we cut him before offering a contract. What do we lose? Nothing... We draft again in the 2nd for a player who is looking for a 2nd rounders financial package. Not someone who is looking for a contract they arent worth.

I'm telling you. I am pretty sure that the Pats have a shady trick up their sleeve if someone like Ghoulston isnt on the board at 7.

Is this a joke?

Re: How is this for a scenario ???

yes. i bet BB and SP are thinking of this shady pick too.

nfl takes our 1st rounder

we give away SF's 1st rounder.

somehow i dont like it

Overanalyzing your way into the basement.

If the Pats don't want the pick, they can simply run out the clock and pass until they get to pick in the spot they really want. I don't even see that happening.

They'll pick at #7 if they can't trade it.

That's absolutely ridiculous.

Gotta love it. I bet we package #7 with Brady to get the #1 so we can take Matt Ryan to keep him out of Parcells hands!

I got a little messed up last night too, but I had the good sense to stay away from here until my head cleared.

I envision rehab in your immediate future.

Re: How is this for a scenario ???

I'm trying to figure out how we cut a player that isn't under contract....?

Re: How is this for a scenario ???

Simply crazy - no chance!

Re: How is this for a scenario ???

I'm not sure whats a better idea...This one or the people who were happy we got the #7 pick instead of the #1 pick because they believed they could get more for the #7 when trading down than they would've for the #1.

I like your idea though; we should do it with every round.
1st round: Draft a second rounder
2nd round; Draft a third rounder
and so on

Awesome!

This is how Bobby Grier drafted.

Out of all the sharp-witted responses to this absurd post (and there were some zingers, yes!), you brought it home quicker than anyone else.

My hat's off to you....:D

They can draft me if they want, I'll do it for half the gauranteed money and wont show up at min camp? win, win!!

Instead of your scenario, Why not just draft the best guy available at 7, but before drafting him try to convince him to take #12-#15 money or we go with someone else......whovere we pick, try to pay him less than #7 is slotted for. At least under this scenario, if things work out, we get the 7th best guy instead of the 5th round talent and if it doesn't work out, the 7th best guy has to sit out season and can't help anyone else....

Obviously these are both ridiculous, but I think if you really feel this way - then this might make more sense.....

This might be the funniest thread I've ever read on this board. I can picture it now...

"With the 7th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select FB Brandon McAnderson from Kansas."

So... are you telling me that the CB's on offer are worth the money of a 7th pick? :singing:
