The Rooney's said in public that it's ok to slap a woman who disagrees on where to Baptize a baby. Seriously, they explained their firing of Wilson saying Harrison hit his wife because there was a difference of opinion on where the baby should be baptized, so it's ok !!

That why Wilson got fired and not harrison, Harrison had good intentions !!

The Pittsburgh Press is loving it !!

The Rooneys are such hypocrites.I guess a "good reason" is a license for domestic abuse now. Let's hand out "good reason" licenses for murder too while we're at it, because that is eventually where it would lead.

And saying that Wilson is different because he had prior icidents is bull, it was his girlfriend that attacked him. Why doesn't that pass the the Rooney "good reason" litmus test? Just because he's a marginal player....give me a break. This is almost as sickening as having that white trash bum Brett Myers closing for the Phils. If Virginia is for lovers, I guess Pennsylvania is for fighters.

It's just the 'roids/HGH. They hand it out like candy in the 'Burgh. Don't worry- no NFL inquiry is forthcoming. The Commish does the Rooney's laundry.

Who said anything about the NFL ? I'm thinking Women's group are going to be all over this, the local press is already starting to stir and that never happens here in Pittsburgh, the Steelers are gods !!

"What Jimmy Harrison was doing and how the incident occurred, what he was trying to do was really well worth it," Rooney said

Holy smokes, "well worth it"? That's a new one, a step beyond the familiar "she had it coming" toward actual praise for wife-beating as a positive step toward a good cause. Good punch, Jimmy! Well worth it!!

Well done, Mr. Rooney. It was bad enough to have everybody think you're a hypocrite for excusing the misconduct of stars while acting righteous about scrubs. But now instead, everybody thinks you actually approve of men slapping their wives around as long as they get their money's worth. Brilliant.

NOTE: THE FAMOUS BREAK-IN AND SPYING ON THE OPPOSITION BY THEN-PRESIDENT NIXON'S HENCHMEN TOOK PLACE AT THE WATERGATE HOTEL.

"--GATE" IS NOT, NOR HAS IT EVER BEEN, A SUFFIX MEANING "CONTROVERSY".

THANK YOU FOR READING THIS PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT.

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. My biggest pet peeve. --gate is the most infuriating thing to happen to the English language since the phrase "hate on" and using "ball" as a verb (unless making a 70s porn reference).

Little sensitive, just a little. The topic is abuse on women. Not the incorrect use of a word !

So what happened to WeedGate?

LOL, that's not even a "good reason."

"Hey, Mr. Rooney, I'm taking my kid to be baptized at this church, whether my wife likes it or not. In fact, she doesn't want the kid to be ba[tized there, but I'm going to do it anyway."

"Good for you, Harrison. That' a real good thing you're doing."

When did Patsfans.com become the place to discuss "abuse on women"?

ah, when it relates to football and players who are given a pass because their very good football players. ok ?

I'll say again, the point was an NFL Owner condoning it to explain why his ProBowl LB didn't also get cut for doing the same thing, ok ?

1.) It's not a Patriots player/owner, and the action wasn't condoned.

2.) Complaining that someone posted a tangent on a thread that doesn't even belong on the main board is a bit silly, to say the least.

I'm getting my son baptized this weekend, so the wife bettah recognize.

Naturally the mouth breathers on ESPN message boards are comparing this to spygate.

I don't know why I torture myself going on those comment sections. Stupid me.:violent:

Wait a second, I think I've figured out what Rooney was thinking! This wasn't wife abuse, it was inter-sectarian violence! Which is, you know, ok.

It is never, repeat never okay

to baptize a baby.

"Not in my house. Not today, not tomorrow..."

Compared to some of the threads posted in here, I think this has a place !

I'm sorry if the subject isn't important to you, but I think there are members that would disagree with you. Saying it has nothing to do with the Patriots is questionable, it comes down to accountability, will there be any.

Take your own advise about complaining, since I never did, just disagreed with their points. Also, saying one's worse then the other based on religion is condoning, from my perspective. Rooney said it wasn't as bad because of a religious reason, he's trying to condone his choices of who to cut and who to keep.

It has nothing to do with the Patriots and your post has essentially nothing to do with football. It doesn't belong on the main board. And here's a follow up that they released:

To clarify the comments made earlier regarding the conduct of our players, in no way do we condone domestic violence of any kind. Each incident must be considered on a case-by-case basis

In the situation with James Harrison, he contacted us immediately after his incident and has taken responsibility for his actions.

“In today’s decision with Cedrick Wilson, we determined the situation was severe enough to warrant the player being released immediately.

“We trust that today’s roster move will indicate our intentions and send a message that we will not tolerate this type of conduct.”
