Is there anyone better than Mike Reiss when it comes to discussing the Pats? I've just read his latest mailbag and everything he writes fits together. He discusses what he's heard, Seward and Spikes, etc. Does anyone even come close?

Andy Hart on the Official Site isnt too bad (but all three are miles away when it comes to "predicting" what will happen Pats wise in terms of drafts, scouting, game plans, etc,)

Anyone else like to contribute

Albert Breer was about to give Reiss a real run for his money before he got the big gig in Dallas.

Shalise Manza Young is one of my "Go To's" over at Projo.com. Give whomever the Sports Editor is over there credit for finding exceptional talent......first Curran (who can now be found at MSNBC.com) then Manza Young.

Tomase (I know, I know) will have one compelling piece from a different angle that is informative out of every three ridiculous ones - - you have to sometimes separate the wheat from the chaffe. That being said, there is NO excuse for his manufactured hit job (there is NO journalistic argument to defend it), and he should pay the consequences.

I dont mind ProJo.com to be fair, its a lot better than Boston Herald, for example and usually offers a slightly different slant on the Pats than our run of the mill Pats stuff.

I actually agree with you about Tomase. Most Pats fans have to be mindful that not everything which comes out of Gillette is gold, although I will back Pioli, Kraft and BB one hundred percent.

I agree Reiss is the best...and Breer would have given him a run IF he had stayed around.. young and really had it together...
BUT as far as Tomase goes..I agree that he has had some good stories...in between soime pretty bad manure..and THAT was the way it was last offseason. Now MANY on this board..kept saying during that time that he was on PAR with Reiss..(a really idiotic ascertion to any who saw the many stupid comments he had made..via Felger's show FSN etc) Where are they know?? All these who championed Tomase last offseason? Hmmmm...running away quickly I am sure. There was always something I didn't like about him when he reverted to Felger/Borges logic..seemed more liek a Sox fan who didn't know anything about football. AFTER what he did SUper Bowl weekend, for me, he will always be a turd, simply put. I think for MOST fans after that hit job, it will always taint his words. NO credibility after that.
Manza Young is quite good..but I still miss Curran...who seemed to have a good balance to things. But I have to admit it that I always go to Reiss's blog first foremost.
Not really a great situation..

Question is... how long will Reiss be around. I notice that the Globe are introducing Christopher Gasper more and more into the equation.

hope you're wrong. other than Reiss' going national, boston is about as big as it gets when it comes to a sports market. new york? sure, but it's more of a baseball town. even the SB Champion giants can't break double digits in a recent poll of new yorkers' favorite teams (Yankees 27%, Mets 12%, Giants 9%). Philly and Chicago come to mind as other big sports towns, but he would have to be going for the bucks and not for a better market.

Reiss is the best... but McMullen comes up with a random great article every once in awhile. Reiss is consistently good.

I've been a follower of Reiss since a few years ago and have been a biased Globe guy since. From the other readers perspective here, I will start to check out projo more to get that different 'slant' that not all sh*t coming from Belichick / Pioli / Kraft is a pot of gold!
Philly is a bigger football market than ours but they have their guys entrenched in there who need to be a local spin on EVERY NFL news piece. Else, Boston is on scale pretty much in the football arena so I don't see Reiss going anywhere soon.
